By that logic the next time I see someone trying to push open a door that says pull, can I call them an idiot and it won't be an insult? Afterall, there's no disrepect to the comment, it's simply a true statement describing their idiocy.

Also, a statement becomes insulting when someone is insulted by it, regardless of whether that was the intent.

Otherwise you're basically saying that you can say anything you want to anyone and it's fine so long as it doesn't fall within your definition of offensive.

Be careful visiting other countries with different customs to yours, that attitude could land you in hot water.

Calling someone an idiot is very different than informing them that they have failed at a specific thing. Simply mistaking a push for a pull is a fail which does not have any bearing on them being an idiot or not. Simplifying the entirety of their intellectual prowess by a single mistake is, you guessed it, a fail.

Fair enough. I'll finish by pointing out that I have accidentally insulted people before.

Did I mean to insult them? No.
Did I agree what I said was insulting? No.
Was what I said actually insulting? Obviously. It must have been since they were insulted.

Ah well, we can agree to disagree as all mature people should. Shake?

This setup is also great for catching and killing all those pesky t1 fast tackle frigs. It can even help hold down a stabber or vaga long enough for more dps to arrive.

True that, Although I do strongly prefer the dual prop, dual tackle ceptors (4 mids obvi) which allow for fast tackle, and speed tanking.

Malediction because look at it.

Intys still far outshine the T1 tackle frigs. The extra tackle range and the MWD sig radius bonus make them pretty much unkillable if flown properly.

No they dont. They have plenty of fitting, better slot layouts and good lock ranges.

What they dont have is extra t2 bonuses... but they are still better, all in.

Let's consider two similarly fit MSE ships, an Executioner and a Malediction. Actually the Executioner gets more speed mods due to its better fitting, but it's still slower than the Malediction. Or the Executioner can fit more tank mods, but it will still have less tank than the Malediction and will also be either slower or have a larger sig radius.

The Malediction fits a single ionic field projector rig to get an equivalent locking range to the Executioner, but that factors into the T1's fitting advantage, which we've determined doesn't close the gap with the T2's native speed, resist, and sig radius advantages. (The advantages that you dismiss for some reason.)

Anyway, let's say both tacklers are orbiting a stationary target at their optimal tackle range. The Executioner orbits a target at 24km at a speed of 4600 with a sig radius of 228. The Malediction orbits at 30km at a speed of 5000 with a sig radius of 90. We aren't overheating MWD or points here because we have to hold the target for a few minutes.

vs. a vanilla armor buffer SFI shooting Barrage, the Executioner takes ~30 dps, but the Malediction only takes ~10 dps.

vs. a nano Zealot shooting Scorch, the Executioner takes ~140 dps, but the Malediction only takes ~15 dps.

vs. a Rapid Light Missile Caracal shooting CN Mjolnirs, the Executioner takes ~125 DPS, but the Malediction only takes ~70 dps.

I don't see how the T1 version is better as a fleet tackler, except from a price point of view. But since Intys are so inexpensive in the first place, it's like choosing between buying a Coke or a generic store brand cola: you can spend $0.50 on the generic or $2.00 on the Coke. Go ahead and save your $1.50.

Am I in a frig gang that needs more dps and has plenty of tackle ? -> Taranis
Am I in a gang of 5 people or less ? -> Taranis
Am I solo ? -> Taranis

Does the gang need someone that can maintain a point while staying alive? - > Ares
Does the gang need someone that can quick tackle on a gate? - > Ares
Does the gang need someone primarily as a tackle/scout ? - > Ares

I always put a sig amp on my ares, extending the lock range past 40km and allowing 6 targets (helpful vs drones), and of course improving the scan res. I prefer to fit a scram and a disruptor. Undecided on weather to use a DC or not.

On my Taranis I like fitting a nos (often have to use a 'knave'), blasters, and mwd/web/scram. Typically my fits are extremely tight on cpu and pg, so switching to a disruptor is not always a simple task. Maybe I need a mwd/disruptor/web/rails fit for when I need to be able to tackle on gates, web, and dogfight.

Maledicton, because it looks so cool.

A lot of people overlook the beam crusader for anti inty work. Back when the gistii crow was fotm I used a beam sader to take down gistii crows all the time, with proper piloting you outran explosion velocity and were able to maintain low enough angular velocity to score reliable hits. Absolutely shat all over the taranis as well. Even with long range targeting 5 it is a tightrope to maintain long point without loosing lock, though.
I love the taranis, but I feel that it was an assault frigate that was added to the interceptor class as a cruel joke, to both interceptors and AFs. Utility high and drones give it more options up close for sure.

I have to say my favorite ceptor is the malediction, though. Long point, sensor booster since it can point past lock range, and out of unbonused heavy and medium neuts, and unbonused web ranges.
I feel like you can run either rockets, or auto cannons, since they are only there to pop drones anyhow. Only real flaw I see in the hull is the atrocious lock range. It performs its role very well, gets a point on target and stays alive, and is thus my favorite interceptor.

my other nano is a polycarb
