Not quite sure what to do cause alot of the fields are empty and the ones that aren't have no dense veldspar or massive scordite or anything but a few small plain veldspar and scordite. How long till they respawn?

Downtime, I believe. Alternatively don't try and mine in Jita.

Give a man a match and you warm him for a day.

11:00 GST.
Newbies now have an effective mining ship, so they mine.. and shred all the belts for several jumps around the starter systems right away. Just travel a ways, you'll find some. Or just buy the ore on the open market, for those "Mine xxx Veldspar from anywhere" tutorials.

They respawn when the servers go back online after downtime. You may want to mine about 5 jumps away from any newbie start zone and jita. If you feel ballsy enough, grab that free venture and quick mine in a .4 or lower system and rush back to high with better ore.

I pass through plenty of high sec systems with Veld rocks big enough to keep you busy for an hour each. The catch is they will be more than nine jumps from any starter systems. But it's time to get out and see the universe anyway, isn't it?

Even better in systems with no stations. But unless you have a POS, which seems unlikely, you can skip those.

TBH i've never been able to work out the eve map I mean the map seems to look like Jita is only about 15 jumps from the furthest part of 0.0 but then again the map is so cluttered with systems its hard to work out. so yeah I have no idea how close to anything I am unless I set that place as my destination.

Many missions will also spawn asteroid fields while the main goal remains unaccomplished.

Systems with Level 3 and 4 agents will have several 0.7 and below. Plenty of or if you find a quiet system.Idea

Correction, until returning to agent and completing the mission. I noticed this when I stopped farming asteroids in mission sites some time ago - too much grinding with one character, cba making an alt. So I started saving wrecks as bookmarks (1 per room if there were multiple rooms) just for the salvage. I used to complete all the objectives but not complete the mission with the agent, go back and farm the roids, get salvage, go back and complete mission. Now, going back after completing the mission, everything that was in the sites despawns except for the wrecks.

or you could just mine in high sec with any mining ship other than the venture and make more cash because quantity > quality.

I too have only checked one system and there is a definitely a lack of rocks, or is it that I'm extremely lazy. Question

that always happened, Hulks would rock up to noob systems and around them for the high sec status

Mining bots simply tear through most of the belts in 0.8-1.0 within a couple of hours after downtime.

Have you tried flattening it, it's an option on the control panel when you open up the map.
