Poor man's drake setup

As the title says.. looking for a drake setup that can kill npcs in belts in Sansha space. Any ideas?!

Shield power relays, shield extenders, core defense purgers, ballistics control systems, adaptive invulns, heavy missile launchers. Go nuts and have fun with it.

which security class are we talking? also, why would you pick a drake in sansha space instead of, say, an Omen?

I should buy an Ishtar.

Cos i know drakes can dish out a lot of damage since they do pure EM damage and such and i`m asking this cos i have a low alt and wanting to try out some ratting in 0.0 space with a sec status of -0.95 something

a typical drake HML setup will run about 350dps with 50km range. that's almost exactly the same as a HAM caracal and a LOT less than a pulse omen.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Then care to elaborate a low sp fitting for a Omen?! If i`m not mistaken sansha uses a lot of tracking disruption that's why i said a drake would be nice

Don't use meta 1 modules. Ever. Meta 4 is often cheaper and always better.

Listen to this man and get an Omen or a Harbinger, use drones to handle TD ships if necessary. With Drake, you'll have an awesome tank, but you'll fall asleep trying to actually kill stuff with heavy kinetic resists.

A drake can rat against sansha just fine... a low sp alt may have some issues given em is the lowest shield resist drakes possess and their damage bonus is to kinetic damage. In other words, the drake is a terrible natural Sansha ratter. It's deficiencies (against Sansha) are really only overcome through SP.

With high sp you can fit t2 heavies with high damage t2 ammo, and you can fit a full t2 tank and three damage mods and still tank rats with ease. With low sp, it's already time consuming to kill Serpentis/Guristas rats bc of low dps. It's even more time consuming to kill Sansha battleships since their weakest damage type is one that you do not have a bonus for.

for ratting in a belt you dont need any better than a basic destroyer or just a tech 2 frigate with an afterburn to speed tank enemys.

battle crusers are for clearing anoms.

as for speeding your sec status gain kill a battle ship jump to next system over kill another battle ship find your self a path that will take you over 15min before you back track on yourself. unless they changed how that works

Just how low is this alt, would you care to post it on http://eveboard.com/ so we can see what we have to work with? The Drake's damage is actually kinda terrible when shooting non kinetic missiles from T1 launchers and depending on just how low your skills are you could have trouble breaking the tank on the bigger rats with it.
