Does CONCORD actually have to lock your ship like a human player would in order to perform a customs scan? Or is it instantaneous?

In other words, if you were to use a covops ship, for instance, or a larger ship with the MWD+cloak trick, and were only lockable for 1/4 of a second or whatever, would you be immune to CONCORD scans? Or do they still get you with the same %age as anybody else?

CONCORD does not scan.

CONCORD does not scan your ship, it blaps you then scans the wreck. Customs scans your ship tho..

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Okay so it is "customs" then. Whatever... the name of the faction that scans you is beside the point. The main question still stands: Does customs actually lock you like a player would and then scan you? Or is it just instantaneous?

If they actually have to lock you, then that implies you could improve your chances of running contraband by being in, for example, a covops frigate, and only being lockable for a fraction of a second before cloaking and/or warping off. Whereas if it is instantaneous, then no particular ship type would give you an advantage at running contraband.

From what I've heard cloaking doesn't prevent them from scanning you.

Afaik - Customs don't "Lock" you, they just know what you have as you jump through (Random unknown stargate h4x0r). Being cloaked doesn't prevent them from scanning you either (again dev h4x0r).

I would say however, pay close attention to what they ask you to do (Jettison etc) as they are *VERY* Buggy at times. Recently one of my corp members accidently picked up some drugs, and even after jettisoning them Caldari Customs still tried to ransom him Lol. We got the customs officer almost 100km away from the gate (Still scramming the corpie) until the GM replied to the petition and the customs offical's ship had an accident and exploded :D
