I doubt that the processor architecture is such a big issue - unless you are coding in assembler. I also remember when apple moved from Motorola to Intel and managed to provide a seamless on the fly emulation of the old architecture so that software didn't even need to be recompiled.

Make a PC platform = problem solved. If it was on PC I would absolutely try it and try to love it, as it is not on PC I will never play it.

The idea is great and after playing the Dust Beta the FPS is fun but the problem is Dust wont last long unfortunatley. Have you seen the attenton span of console players? Dust bunnies will be off playing some other game within a month that is the reality when it comes to console games and CCP is blind if they dont see this. Hate to burst your dust bubble.

CCP just wants you to buy a Playstation. Big smile

I guess it helps you faction taking territorial control of the warzone that may increase the LP you can earn and use to buy ships for possible resell on the market for ISK. Yeah, it is a long stretch ... but since when did you need more of a reason to shoot at someone?

FPS games, for all the claims of being polar opposites from MMOs (mostly by MMO players who think they're better for grinding stuff longer), are slowly starting to resemble them with persistant stat upgrades and unlockables to grind for thanks to the inherent human tendency to get addicted to stuff. And the game developers have started to take notice

With all respect for ccp efforts i think dust it will die first, I just read some news and sony said they will stop producing ps3 in 2015. I hope they lunch this game faster for ccp sake before they reamain without support

This doesn't matter. It's a free online game, if PS3 is updated most likely Dust will already be compatible and be able to convert over.

I doubt that. The main problem with PS3 for devs was the processor architecture and that's what will get binned in the move to "PS4".

For those Sony fanbois - do try to remember that Sony has a bloody awful record on "backwards compatibility".

Dust took too long is all, CCP tried to do too much at the same time and failed on all counts.

They may as well launch Dust, but its never going to come close to recovering dev costs.

CCP just want to be VERY careful it doesn't **** off the customers of the Golden Goose (Eve) because if it does.......

Talking out of your arse, My PS3 is backwards compatibilty w/PS2 and Sony has said they would give out Dev kits once they. Were done developing the PS4. As with the PS3 rollout sony will ensure their clients are up to speed otherwise they would have a poduct without any content

I predict people in ships, in space, being paid to nuke the ground non stop and grief Dust players.

Of course this can't happen because of "balanced mechanics" which begs the question of why many other things we have already don't contain balanced mechanics :/

I apparently have no idea what I'm doing.

Because everything in EVE is not supposed to be balanced?

A few of them will rage quit and then resub three months later like usual?

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

Yours is. Later models aren't as they attempt to do it via emulation.

Orbital bombardment sounds interesting.

Can we earn isk this way from participating in FW ground wars?

you can shoot the destroyers who shoot the planet and see what they drop

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

They will probably solve the ob greif issue by having the fights in random districts or requiring the future coat liners to mark targets.
Which is fine, though I am curious what happens if you get 20 destroyers and try to fire on the battlefield.
Oh well time to find out soon.

Haha. Let's just see if Sony is smart and helps their developers to port their games to the new platform or if they follow your advice and start from scratch ...

Oh they will help for sure. The problem is that they won't succeed.

Sony as a consumer brand is still reasonably shiny - even though they've lost billions for the last 5 years.

Sony as a gamer brand is "wtf planet are you on?" and will become increasingly irrelevant in the next 12-24 months.

Shame really as Dust/Eve on PC would have made CCP lots more money by now.

The game is a free DOWNLOAD. A download that will be updated for PS4. A download that is based on the very idea of free updates and updates that include the very next PS console. So enough with fear mongering.

I'm pretty excited to see if you can make a persistent strategic FPS work.

I want to believe.
