EVE players have a combat record through killmails and killboards.

Will Dust corporations and/or players have some kind of viewable record so we can see their successes and failures on the battlefield?

This is more than just snarky voyeurism. If you're actively involved in FW, for example, you'll want to know which corporations and soldiers are the most successful so you can provide them with more orbital support, finances, etc.

As a dust player (as well) I can tell you that Dust Bunnies are very interested in stats too.

We're currently kicking numbers around to work out what's a good set of stats. K/D ratios are, for example, not exactly a good one. Someone can have a high ratio, and lose every match (**** camping snipers) Blink

Woo! CSM XI!

this will be the last reset for DUST characters. So enjoy those skill points mercenaries, you earned them.

Clarification on this, does this mean it is the last reset until DUST release? or last reset ever.

Districts only popup on the overview if someone is at them. So it's actually really easy.

On another note, \o/ DUST 514.

:O I didn't know they were on the overview, probably because noone has had a real reason to go there. Thanks.

Yes for a while if you go to visit a Customs Office to empty your PI in high sec at a temperate planet you can pull up,and if you desire, warp to any of the districts. View from orbit in space of course - not actually land at the district Smile. Quite pretty actually and similar to the view of cities on Earth from space.

So they're beta and we're not? Will there be an NDA still in effect? How do you plan on enforcing it with open chat channels?

I mean, uncheck "show dust players in chat channel" box, and expect bugs and downtime, got it.

Lets assume something bad happens and dust breaks down as all things do.

Will CCP be able to reboot "dust" in isolation or will Eve have to be taken down as well. Eve is very stable and reboots are now rare, but I will not take to kindly to being booted from Eve due to a problem with Dust.

I have every intention of ignoring Dust as much as I can as it hold little interest for me.

I'd say so, yes. EVE and DUST are just games. New Eden is the universe.

Do they have character creators or do they just have blank portraits?

this will be interesting, but from the off we need to remind the Dust Bunnies who exactly is in charge. They work for us or die.
They might also be immortal but until they can fly their own ships we're superior to them...

If we lookup dust names in local via the eve api:
e.g.: http://wiki.eve-id.net/APIv2_Eve_CharacterID_XML

what do we get for info?

I really hope you guys are also including a filter to enable people to filter our the "unwanted" stuff. The last thing I want to see in local is a bunch of inane chatter from someone fighting a battle down on the planet's surface that has nothing to do with what I'm doing and is just distracting.

Worse, that chatter may be offensive or just mind-numbingly silly (think "Barrens Chat", for those familiar with the phenomenon). As Dust will be F2P, I expect a lot of this stuff will happen if the game takes off, and reading all that is the last thing I want to do.

In other words, I hope you learned from the CQ fiasco in Incarna and include the "don't load CQ" equivalent for Dust in chat.

I am still waiting for the explanation why I can't just indiscriminately bombard the planets when I am forced to rely on some ******* beacon.

Somewhere in FW space:
EVE player: "Hey DUSTie, want some orbital support? Just 50 mil."
DUST player: "No thanks bro."
EVE player: "Ok. Well then pay me 50 mil anyway or I bomb you."
DUST player: "..."

Actually sounds kind of fun Lol

That would be great if there were actually a way to transfer isk between the two games. Roll

Still, looking forward to this new chapter in the beta!

I like this idea, it's the nature of eve that the weak yield to the strong. Lets have no protection for the dust bunnies. They should be treated the same as any other item in eve. They are expendable and destructible. Welcome to New Eden Dust Bunnies...

Fair point.

And of course it would end in bombing anyway. Because hey - ISK comes and goes, but killmails last forever Lol

...

We are going to get killmails out of DUST aren't we?
