Why do I say this? Freighter patch has removed the need for orca hauling. The ship maintenance bay is for those who dont want to spring a few 100k for replacement rigs. If your hauling a ship in that bay with T2 rigs, chances are its too expensive to be hauling anyway. Small cargo? Use a T2 industrial, much faster even with 2 trips.

No it's not, unless you just mean the 4-5k cargo of a cov-ops T2 industrial. But the ones with bigger space are slower than an Orca and only have half - 1/3 of the Orcas cargo!

i assume if you undock that on a wardec then you are doing it wrong but previous people talked about trying to gang. And thats high sec not on wardec that means concort will come. Good luck having a bs hitting you for 2 mins ...

That's how long it took to explode. Go argue with somone your own age.

Just do yourself a favour and stop posting here! You are completely writing nonsense in this matter! Whoever undocks with an defenseless Orca while being wardecced deserves to loose it. And you can destroy an Orca with a destroyer ship during wardec if you have enough time ... but that was not the case here.
The question is how safe it is in HiSec under normal circumstances and with more than 200k EHP, an align-time of 10 seconds and nearly 100k m3 real cargospace (ore bay excluded!) it is a very viable ship. I like it and I fly it always when I need to haul more than 5k m3 and less than 100k m3.
And neither 3 Tornados will destroy it, nor 3 battleships will do it, when I am flying it. If I am wardecced I would just not fly it!
I could write Orca is useless as it will be destroyed when traveling through in lowsec very often with 5B assets in the cargo, but that statement would be just stupid.

Orca primary role boosts. Secondary role none. Tertiary role hauling.

An orca has many more uses available to it. It works great in wormholes if you have little need for a POS, or for wormhole diving as you can easily re-fit ships as needed, and has great cargohold space for loots. It's very versatile compared to any other ship with large cargohold space and offers features that are only available on an Orca in highsec space. Basically it has fantastic boosts, great logistic capabilities and very good hauling capabilities.

Not at all. Orcas are still better options in wormholes, low and null. Also most belts will have more M3 worth of ore then a freighter container which means having to fly in a freighter or an orca to pick up additional m3. And sure you can have a freighter sit in belt and have an orca off grid boosting, but the convince of not having to do 2 hauls in the orca per hour might not be worth the loss of 30M +/- isk/hour that could have been made if that freighter pilot was mining.

I also deploy POS's to mine to and an orca can warp/align, dump and warp/align back with the need to only cycle mining lasers 1 time (when it is aligning/warping back from POS). This is far more easier IMO then having to jetcan for 5 - 10 +/- minutes waiting for a freighter to return back to belt.

The maintenance bay has far more uses then simply hauling ships (which still saves you around 30k m3 cargohold). In null/low/wh its great to keep a pve fitted ship to use for rats, or to store a fast scout ship for preping for the next belt (book mark setup, positioning for warp in). It's also a great feature to use if someone is attempting to gank your ships (dump the ship and warp out).

Also an Orca will out align/warp all standard and deep space industrial ships when fitted for align time. I have tested this many times hauling 2m - 4m M3 / day with 2 orcas + industrials. The Orcas always win. And yeah a blockade runner is much faster, but thats like comparing a destroyer to a carrier, you're talking about 13 - 15 trips when it comes to M3 amounts.

Im starting to feel sorry for the orca really. Its fantastic at boosts, but its overkill on ship size for what it does. Create some new small scale battlecruiser sized booster with long range tractors, strip this ability from the orca, and give it triple the agility, and warp strength.

The Orca still has plenty of uses, and now the freighter is also a viable option for many situations with mining. Freighters are great for big ops where you would be using 2+ orcas for hauling and boosting anyways, but for small scale mining (5 or less miners) an orca still offers a viable solution with many more features.
