Eh, you can talk to me about that bud.

Had my share of wormholing. Talk to me about it in alliance next time I see ya.

Edit: The buddy I brought in in corp has experience too.

Hey, I remember you.... Blink

But seriously, voice comms are pretty important. Even if you can only listen, your FC will be able to get orders out that much faster and there's less chance of stupid explosions on your side. Even though explosions are awesome.

Oh, I never said anything against listening. In fact I do it every time I join our weekly roam or sth - let's say - organized (which in case of BRRC usually means different thing than in "normal" corps Smile ). FC/scouts talk, I listen and obey orders - I'm not very sophisticated in my pvp so when I hear "engage" I just go in and try to help my mates before I explode. Not very much to talk about it from my side of comms.

All I was really asking was how much emphasis WH dwellers put on social side of comms. And it seems I wouldn't be welcomed in any of WH corps with my kind of attitude of playing in silence (mah Eve has no sound) just clicking my keyboard.

Ah, nevermind - I will continue to stalk your holes anyway. In silence Big smile

Ah, well in that case, I know my alliance uses it all the time. Hell, ask anyone that has me on comms and they'll tell you I never shut up. Ever. It's good to have people you can talk to/yell at while gaming.

+1 Bernie is excellent to chat with.

Comms are very important. We try to stay on them all the time. You could be hanging at the POS reorganizing the hangar tabs while someone else is scouting the chain when they suddently yell, "juicy fleet on scan get over here now". You just never know what is gonna pop up suddenly.

By its nature I think if everyone's hanging out in comms already, someone eventuallys gonna start up with something "So, who caught the game earlier..."

We are only two handful of dudes in our group, but playing without voice coms would be really boring, very ineffective and probably dangerous.

We normally spread out looking for targets, talk on comms tab out to browse, watch youtube vids, porn or gaming streams. Should someone tab in and find something, and not be able to get the others to tab/log in there would be a lot of angry faces.

Then we have the usual derping when going into or during a fight that no one pay attention to if written.

It's a sad state of affairs when there is a thread for using voice comms in WH's or not!
Might as well not join fleet either.

Does a Venture make a sound blowing up when your sound is turned off?

As soon as you set foot into w-space, congratulations, you are a scout. Now you need to be on comms just like any other scout. If you really hate talking on comms for whatever reason (health of your vocal cords, playing in the same room as family/sleeping people, etc), corps will usually be accommodating, but it can be frustrating at times because sometimes people just won't be paying attention to chat channels and information gets lost.

If you just want to log in and roam and follow what the FC tells you, the structure of w-space itself will make that annoying for you, since it basically doesn't happen that way. It sounds like it'll be a very different lifestyle than what you're used to. You can make it work without talking or talking very rarely, but don't be surprised if it backfires sometimes.

Totally understand that but thank you for your elaborated response.
And reason for my aversion for speaking is mainly to avoid wife aggro. Why oh why didn't I start playing Eve when I was a happy single Smile

Voice comms help so much with getting peeps together, getting them focused on task, and causing a group to bond into a focused fighting unit. They allow you to share and experience so much more with you members than simple text, and those "good times" on comms are the things you remember, always search to recapture, and will cause a disorganized group of internet misfits into a furious band of internet spaceship warriors. You NEED voice comms, because this culture and friendship makes or breaks a corp and is facilitated by communication.

I always told people to get on comms or GTFO until I met a guy who informed me that he could not talk. He could listen fine, but due to some sort of vocal chord paralysis had not been able to speak since he was a child. I changed my attitude after that.

He was a great pilot and was lightning quick at typing, never missed a keystroke either. In fact, he often typed a response to general queries faster than the voice enabled guys could.
