The Jove, at the end of the novel Empyrean Age.

I don't remember that part.

Ten years in, New Eden still continues to thrive but what of the past? Will Eve Gate to Earth ever re-open and if we do come back or they come to us what would be the repercussions?

Will Earth be like this http://youtu.be/VzHbdlSKX1w or http://youtu.be/dQ3Mt9yiz6k?

Anyway, for those who have not made the pilgrimage to the New Eden Gate, please do so. Who knows what will happen to the Enigma of Earth.
Since I'm a total Sci-Fi fan, I'm definitely going to watch both of those movies.

I've done the pilgrimage to the Eve Gate a few times and it's definitely an excellent sight to behold. Back years ago, new Capsuleer's would perform a sort of 'Rite Of Passage' by anchoring a small secure container in New Eden system with their name and date on it. I remember that system literally being filled with ton's of cans. It actually looked very cool.

Anyway, I highly doubt the Eve Gate will ever re-open and if it were to re-open allowing access to Earth, given a choice between the two options you listed, After Earth seems the more logical choice.

I'm not promoting drug use but in my mind I think it would actually end up more like the Earth in A.I. - Artificial Intelligence

Why would you want it to? The Borg would just come flying through. Or the Dominion, but IMO the Borg would be worse.

My guess is that if the gate DOES open, Whatever Terran nation exists at the time (remember Terran being the progenitor to the eve empires, you know US) will probably be more advanced then even the jove and wipe everyone out.

Would make for a fun server closure event.

Who's to say they didn't destroy themselves since then?

Who's to say that they didn't?

You have to consider that the Milky Way Galaxy was colonized by Earth, so it's likely that humanity and its wonder-tech survived at least on some level. Even if you assume that the Milky Way blew itself back into a new dark ages, you have to remember that Eve's descent into the dark ages was probably much harsher.

Look at the timeline. Eve only had ~60 years of colonization before the gate collapsed. The Eve colonies weren't self-sufficient and they fell into a dark age. (eve gate history) It then took over 13,000 years before interstellar travel was re-invented in Eve. (Eve gate collpased in 8061 AD, first Amarr stargate in 21290 AD.)

So if 13,000+ year old Earth tech makes current Eve tech look like stone age technology, then it's not worth the risk of seeing what's on the other side of the Eve gate, IMHO.

Huh. I didn't even know the gate was still here, let alone visitable. Might check it out.

The EVE gate has been a deadly storm of death for thousands of years, since it's collapse. It has seen the rise of new civilizations, and I believe will stand as impassible as it is now, until their fall.

Borg versus Sansha

basically borg versus borg+reaverdrugs, and considering how badly sansha can get curbstomped, yeah, borg would totally be able to get more then 5 systems in.

Well, there seems a dearth of movies/books regarding of 'Going Home' and the origins, and I'm a big sci-fi fan (and I don't mean Avatar) particularly books. One day I hope that something does come through that gate OR alternatively some contact made and further cover ups by the different empires.

Lore or not, I am curious to see what has happened to good ole Earth or have they completely gone bonkers and wiped each other out? It can't be true that with all this tech that we have, we are unable to somehow find a way to get connected.

Perhaps, a time will come when the damn gate does open and trouble comes, (or have some kind of event) coz seriously ten years is a long time, AND I do go visit the relic each year. For those who haven't seen it yet, please do it's still part of EvE's wonderful background story of 'isolated islands in space'. After all, EvE gate is like the social network.. currently not working as intended.

Capsuleers can't learn to use a gas mask or decontaminate a damn station, what makes you think they'll solve the solution to a crazy WH?

It's a periodical. Give it time, it'll eventually pop open again.

And then we close it by SLAMMING MASS THROUGH THAT HOLE AT TOP SPEED.

When you take the Lore into account your wrong about the state of earth in both accounts. In EVE the races are not nearly as advanced as Earth was when the first came to New Eden. Considering that Humanity spread themselfs through out the starts those scenarios are very unlikely.

Still those are two movies I sure as hell am going to watch. I do believe that Will Smith is one of the immortal Capsule pilots since he never seems to Age.

Would be pretty hard to wipe a civilization that is spread across the Milky Way galaxy and possibly other galaxies.
They are HUGE, it would be almost impossible to search for every corner of the galaxy to kill the civlization and destroy the tech.
So I doubt the Terrans have gone back in technology.

Probably humans left behind were degenerating like Jove and now they are all a data in some data bank powered by black hole, and the apes are fighting eachother with sharpened wood sticks.
