Straight answer on (image tags)?

I see plenty of forum devs active on these forums today and good luck with the rollout and I hope there are no unforeseen problems this time.

So could we please have a straight answer on image tags:

Are they coming back?
If so when?
If not, why not?

If its just a question of setting up dimensions/size restrictions could you let us know where you are with the process please?

I imagine I'm not alone in having plenty of lovely sig-images and incidental eve-themed artwork I like to use on the eve-online forums and would appreciate a detailed answer on the restoration of the image functionality.

Also, would be nice to get some coloured text options again to allow for some more creativity particularly with in-character posts. Is that going to be possible in the immediate future?

Good question. A dev commented about it on the test forums. I think it boiled down to "soonTM"

In the spirit of "new forums / new start" I invite the forum developers to give a better answer than that because I think "soonTM" is a bit of a poor response to the absence of such a key feature used by virtually all new and long term players.

If there is a technical issue I'd like to know what it is.

If there has been a specific management decision to not to implement images on the new forums I'd like to know that too.

Basically a bit of transparency and mutual respect.

Well the sensible option for a modern forum would be to allow users to set in their profile whether they see images or not. That way users who want a lowbandwith clean forum would get that without impacting the usability of those who like their images for signatures and incidental artwork of course.

But as I said earlier - all I really want is a straight answer.

If the forum developers have decided there will be no images I'd like to know why and what the thinking behind that is.

If its just a technical issue I'd like to know what the issue is and potential timescale for resolving it.

While I can appreciate your preference for the clean low bandwith look Gallion I'd ask you understand in return that people have put a lot of effort over the years into producing, buying, adopting and customizing their eve-themed signatures that promote the environment and corporate and alliance identity on these shared forums.

Some players make their ISK in game by designing forum-signatures for people!

I think if CCP had decided there would be no images on the new forums it would have been polite to let those players know their income stream would be horribly nerfed right?

We had some security concerns with allowing the embedding of external images. It’s something we’ll be enabling in the future but it was dropped from this release in the interest of doing it properly/safely.

On a more serious note, you've now passed (in accordance with your own claims) well over 72,000 man hours on retooling a pre-fab forum system (i.e. re-theming it) and you still haven't got images?

Can you explain what the issue is with the [img] tag please?

Is it possible to simply alllow static images at this point to be going on with?

Also, can you give a timescale for the activation of [img] tags assuming this "release" of the forums goes without a hitch?

The "security" concerns are that it might cause border breaches if the embedded images are too wide. P
