Would anyone be interested in a play by post using their EVE character?

I have some ideas floating in my head for a story and would be happy to be the moderator/GM

Edit:

Seeing as I have gotten some interested players already I am here by inviting you to a New Eden Play by Post. I think I would want to limit the first adventure to 6 players so counting those who already have shown an interest I have three slots remaining. If you are unfamiliar with the concept of a Play by Post it is explained in this Wikipedia article

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Play-by-post_role-playing_game

I will be using the Strands of Fate gaming system for rules management and character creation. (as detailed in a later post)

The PDF is available for download/purchase here

http://www.rpgnow.com/product/84757/Strands-of-Fate?manufacturers_id=3431

I am sure you would be able to download it online someplace for free but I do think the book is worth the money.

I will close the invitation this friday the 11th and start the game the next week

Sounds interesting to me, count an Amarrian ex-military pilot in!

I would be interested in this, but how are we to fit into the story? What is the premise?

(He opens the door and enters the room. He eyes the other occupants as he walks to the large desk in the corner near the window, takes out a pen and promptly writes one word on a scrap of paper.)

(He then calmly walks out of the room, ignoring everyone else as they stand mezmorised by the word)

The scrap of paper reads ~ WINNER

Because Far-que... That's why.

I will fit you into the story once I know who is going to participate

The campaing ideas I have are geared mostly towards character development and mystery solving. I doubt that there would be very much combat, ship to ship or otherwise. Dont get me wrong though you will still se combat if you want to.

I will solidify the introduction to the story once I know who is going to participate, but suffice it to say you will be undocking from a trade hub at the start of the adventure.

I am probably going to use the FATE gaming system.

It allows for an easily arbitrated game but still has room for character development.

It is most famous for the Dresden Files RPG

The book I will be using is Strands of Fate by Mike McConnell, published by Void Star.

I think it will work well as a play by post because there are not a lot of numbers and you don't need a map.

Your character has some basic abilities but where you really excell is the Aspects system.

For instance a character could have the "Born as a Holder" aspect. This could benefit your character if they were trying to talk an Amarrian magistrate into ignoring a minor transgression. Or it would help you pick out the spy from among the crowd of slaves. The catch is that you the player chooses when the aspect comes into play.

If I present a challenge where you think you have a better chance of success due to an Aspect it is up to you to let me know.

The draw back is that I gauge the difficulty of a challenge based on the characters Aspects. If I think someone with "Born As a Holder" would find it difficult to barter in a Galentean marketplace I would offer you the choice of a higher chance of failure in exchange for a bonus later on.

OK, I haven't used that system before, but I'm sure I can learn it rather quick. Trade hub is a good common point for players of all backgrounds, good touch. Count me in.

Don't know the system either, so I'll try to sink my teeth into it ASAP. So, what date are we planning on starting?

I would like to give others a couple of more days to see the invitation before I start.

Sounds really fun. Any idea on the pace you'd like to have for the game? In other words, players responding throughout the day, or once per day, within 24 hours, etc.?

I was considering all of the above. I think that to be fair to the folks who cant do any better I would at least give people 24 hours to respond. If the story moves forward faster than that I'm good with it.

Personally I will be able to post most weekdays during the workday (EST)

Excellent for me, most days I'll be able to post more than once, and surely once would be a minimum I could also follow with probable ease. As for the pdf, I'll try to read through it soon.

Given how attached to my computer I am, I should have no problem posting at least once a day. :3

I've been reading through the rules book to geta good grasp of the game mechanics, and I'm wondering how will you manage the refreshing of fate points? Afterall, there are no clear "sesion beginings" online. :?

I will address that in the first post of the new topic for the adventure.

... which btw is forthcoming
