We've gone down several notches with the loss of Sir Patrick Moore Sad

The current crop I'm not hopeful. Brian Cox, Alice Roberts, that long haired Scottish fool who does a lot of the travel shows...

Attenborough is still my man. Quality for years and years. Even Palin wasnt half bad.

I think the issue with American documentaries is everything is presented as "its going to kill you". Especially danger shows like deadliest roads or axe men etc. Do we need to see the same animation of a truck falling beneath the ice 10 times in 1 episode? Even when I watched universe with American narration I was blown away at how different it was. Same animation but totally different information.

It was all... This is a quasar... IT WILL KILL YOU AND MURDER YOUR FAMILY!!!!! This is a black hole... IT HATES AMERICA!!!!

Ok, im over blowing it but it was high on "action" and "threat" low on science.

Speaking of which, the sky at night is on this monday at midnight BBC one(00:10 for scotland). In it he and his team offer advice to those who are discovering astronomy for the very first time. How should they set up their new telescopes and what should they seek out in the winter skies as they begin to share Sir Patrick's lifelong passion for the stars. He filmed it less than a week before his deathCry
