Starflight was an awesome game and I'd play the hell out of any Starflight mmo.

If you can't survive EVE Online, then your not worth to play this game. It's harsh, it's evil, but there are always ways to succeed. It's your fail for not finding a way out of the challenges of EVE Online. This includes idiots that grief you.

When Sony had all of it's security concerns and shut down all operations I had been playing Star Wars Galaxies. I went looking for a different MMO. I came across Eve, reading about it I was thrilled, in my mind formed images of Starflight in an MMO.

I have never in my life seen a more dishearted group of customers in my life. I've been playing MMOs since 2001, there are always issues. In Eve you have a minority of players that essentially dictate how the majority players. This minority deprives the majority access to many of what should be fun content. This same minority apparently has as their goal to drive the minority out of the game entirely by doing everything in their power to grief "highsec" players. For some reason this minority feels that highsec players have no right to enjoy their online time.

This is a group of people that feel killing a new player in his Navitus garners them the same honor as killing a well fit well flown Megathron.

I think the best example of childishness aimed at me was being called a ***** because I wouldn't fight a veteran player (whom I did not know) in his Hurricane with my T1 equipped Punisher Frigate. The next day I watched this same person in his hurricane fight Hyperion to the point the Hyperion has to warp out to survive.

Eve could attract many thousands of new players that stay were these nasty gankers, griefers, sadists denied their tools for torturing other players, particularly new ones.

My four accounts are insignificant but how many other have left silently.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but to be honest if you as you say "have never in my life seen a more dishearted group of customers in my life" then you obviously had not played starwars galaxies for long or had not ever read the forums there, when i read the negativity on this forum i'm always heartened by the fact that it was worse on the SWG forums and i don't have to put up with that crap any more.

i'll esplain it to you,

thats EVE, works as intended, noone here wants 12 year old idiots who will stick around for 3 months untill they're ability to concentrate is reached.
do not fly what you cannot afford to loose, does not mean in Ls or 0.0 only, that sticks to HS too.

Join a corp, team up and murder someone, it'll feel good i promise.

My biggest problem with your post is the whole 'elite group who deny access to large portions of the game' theory.

Your business proposal was naive, no 0.0 entity is going to allow you to come mine in their space as an independent entity. If you want to come out and join us, you have to actually join us(or fight for your space, but you don't seem ready to do that). That being said, you have to pull your weight to support life out there, and someone who is trying to make some kind of deal to mine and pay a tax isn't likely to be reliable to pull their weight.

You might find someone who will take you in and let you join their indy wing, but if you want to enjoy nullsec, 99% of the time you are going to have to fight one way or another, whether its fight to support your alliance, or fight to take your own space.

And yes, sometimes you can get recruited just as a miner(my corp just finished recruiting a few) but even then you will be expected to be able to take care of yourself. If you seriously affect the killboards because you keep getting ganked, you are a liability, and not worth keeping around. If you mine too much, you will drive up the industrial index of a system, which guarantees you will get ganked(people watch for that to find targets).

No one is denying you anything, you just don't get to dictate the terms on which you get to enjoy it.

OP mentions two groups of Eve players, a minority that mess it up for the majority.

OK then.

You know what? I have no idea which of those groups i belong to. My first six months i nearly raegquit every week. Sometimes i think a masochistic streak is an adaptive mechanism and an appropriate behaviour pattern in some environments. After just over 2 years i have a small ability to mess up other player's days. Taking dedicated high sec dwellers on roams into lowsec and null, watching them get confident and even nasty, extremely satisfying.
So which group am i in? Maybe the 2 group breakdown is too simple.

Unless OP is talking about the goons and their hijinks in which case, just no.

I see plenty wrong just there.

Eve is a cruel hard place and that is what makes it both unique and awesome. You obviously don't like it. Good, go play the multitude of safe friendly cuddly mmos on the market. Don't try to turn this game into one of them you pussy.

All of those evil things are apart of what makes this game unique. I live in highsec because I prefer the peaceful life (some may say i'm a carebear), but love it that I could be (at any time) suicide ganked, mission griefed, scammed, or what ever a person can think up. I applaud the scammer that can actually get their trick to work. I love the team work it takes to gate camp a trade route or to bait someone into a trap. These are aspects of the game that I never want to see changed. Its apart of the game's unique identity.
