FoF Missile AI worse than that of drones!?

So i had an hour or less to spare and decided to log in to Eve to do a quick mission.
I found myself in a station with only 2 lv3 agents. The station where I keep all my stuff and not my normal agent station. Didn't want to jump to find a better agent so i took the ship I had and agreed to do a lv3 mission for one of the agents.

I decided that it probably would be a bit overkill to use my normal T2 missiles on a lv3 mission so I looked around in my loot container and found I had a lot of small leftovers of FoF missiles. So i took them.
Warped to the mission and pressed F1 and then went to make some coffee.

When I came back, the missiles had not killed 1 single NPC (even though there was plenty that was shooting at me) but was happily trying to kill every Large Collideble Structure in the vicinity like the 120 Walls thet was within range. I was like o.0

Is this a known bug that should be reported or is it something better just forgotten as nobody cares about FoF missiles?

Bug report it anyway. If the players don't care enough to make a fuss about it, CCP certainly isn't going to do anything to improve it either. And yes FOF missiles shooting structures instead of actual threats has been a "feature" as long as I can remember.

FoF missiles are like bicycle powered helicopters, Good idea but not enough people who bought one complained that they don't work.

The only time I have ever fired them and they worked is while jammed by a falcon in a wormhole, and I was actually close enough to get the Falcon pilot pregnant. Then someone else put some drones on me and the missiles went after the drones.

The propper way to use FoF missiles is to reprocess them.

There is no AI for FoF missiles. They just go for whatever is closest.

Second closest. Deep down, FoF missiles really want to shoot your ship.

I love FoF missiles, if it's destructible FoF's will go for it, it's a nerf to them so you will lose dps when NPC kites you near those objects and apply their dps, (a way to make missions harder) esp Guristas when they jam you.

I know this wasn't meant to be funny but the story made me chuckle :) +1

I use FoF missile religiously (and i mean that, I pray that they will hit something useful when I fire them Big smile ) . Like everything else, they are only good in certain situations and suck in others.

In high sec lvl 4 missions I dual box a 6 HML tengu along with my machariel. i set the Tengu to stay at 0 on the mach and the FoF missles take care of any small npc frigs for me, it's like having my own point defense system lol.

In null sec i usually stick to anomalies that don't have structures (like "Cloud" Haven, Forsaken hubs and rally points) or anoms that have really squishy structures like the regular vesion of the Hubs. Some anoms have big non-squishy structures like Forlorn Hub, i just set my mach to "keep at range" of the gate at 52km, and because no rat orbits further than 51km, all the rats eventually come into range of my FoF missiles. I do the same thing on soe lvl 4 missions like Gone Berserk.

Personally I'd love it if they only hit ships, but I have to admit that would be a little bit overpowered.

FoF's have been shooting large collidable structures for at least 6 years now. Not joking.

I remember someone throwing around the idea of FoF missiles behaving kind of like HARMs (High-Speed Anti-Radiation Missiles, basically radar-killers). They would basically seek out the nearest target using an active jammer (prioritizing the highest jam strength). Lacking that (i.e. no one jamming you), they would seek out the closest ship with the highest sensor strength.

FoF's are actually a typo left in by CCP that never got corrected, they're supposed to read as LoL Missiles.

Are you confused by something i said?

I set my mach to keep the pirate gate in the forlorn hub at 52 km (and my tengu is set to keep the mach at zero). Eventually all the rats in the Forlorn hub (no matter which race) will come to within 51km of my mach (thus also my Tengu) and the pirate gate being 52 km away means I won't loose any fof missile salvos to the structure.

Since I rat mostly in Serpentis space right now and serps are mostly close range rats (like Angels and unlike blood raiders and guristas), my 800mm fit mach is perfect for the job.

fofs seem mostly fine, just need to maneuver a bit so the rats are closer than the structures. semi-afk fof tengu works quite well, did fof 5 on my alt.

Isnt the point to have something to shoot while jammed, not while afk? We just had a fiasco because some idiots were trying to kill plusses afk.

Fof's would be great if they didn't insist on shooting drones..
