Aye, watch d-scan for probes if you're going to mission while war-decced.

While under a dec from Privateers, I noted combat probes on my d-scan while running a level 4 in my Raven. No reds in local, so I assumed it was a ninja salvager/looter. After warping in and out a couple times over the next 15 minutes, I decided to call it quits for a bit and warped to gate to jump into my home system. Upon jumping, I found the gate camped by a WT Drake and Legion. Would have been a better fight if the Legion had not been neut fit. Was just bad luck on my part choosing the one gate that was camped. Then again, no telling if the other gates were camped, too.

Lesson here: Better off not missioning while war-decced.

A recent lesson I learned, during my first ever attempt at exploration, is to never assume that the other side of a wormhole isn't camped.

I got my cheap scanning frigate, kitted it out and headed off to practise scanning. Found a wormhole signature and locked it down, then warped to it. By this point I was well pleased with my first ever scanning attempt and the first time I'd ever seen a wormhole, so I bookmarked it then jumped through to take a look.

It never occurred to me that it would be camped, it's not a gate that's a definite fixed transit point, so when I got to the other side I started to run a checklist without looking. Bookmarked this side of the WH, pulled back the camera to have a look around, thought to myself "I wonder why this side looks different, it's got a big sphere round it, kinda like a... bubble. Crap."

A more out of the way system to practise in next time, I think. Lol

many moons ago, after going for a smoke and coming back to my pod in station, i learned that 'safe spots' aren't safe. Cool

just because there's a bubble on the hole doesn't mean it's being camped.

let me guess. your home system was a mission hub? there was no luck. they knew where you would go.

Yeah, bubble is just used to scare people, keep people INSIDE. If u go thru a hole, there is absolutely nothing stopping you from waiting out cloak/session timer, and just jumping right back out (careful, a third jump locks u out for 5 minutes). Chances are the people in that hole who put the bubble didn't come thru that hole to do it, they probably lived inside. Next time, bring a heavy ship in and blow tit up. If aggressed, just jump out :-) where you ENTER a hole from does not necessarily discern what's on the other side, or who

Aye, just the bubble itself wouldn't have spooked me, it was the volley of heavy missiles taking me into structure before I jumped back that convinced me it was camped.
