P1. Rewarding players with overpowered, indestructible, game content such as special ships that are fully insured is a disaster waiting to happen.

Why?

You are creating a class of player that will be immune to the consequences of destruction and giving them the ability to destroy lower class players assets with zero risk to their own. This will pave the way to elitist griefing on epic scales.

lollll, getting rid of insurance will stop suicide ganking

i take it they're assuming SC will have their own version of space CONCORD

I ******* love the first response in that thread

Yep, that's exactly why they're launching a whole new game on PS3 soon. I'm sure everyone who starts running out of money just goes ahead and starts spending more on new games.

Someone should reply with the good old Citation Needed then.

I would have, but the moment is gone.

I guess we can safely say that there's no threat to eve's survival from SC.

Looks like we have found Bat Countries new holiday home. Wonder how long before I can get a death threat and other such bad posting.

I like reading threads like these, their forum I mean. It shows how narrow-minded people are. It's like they don't understand why monolithic organisations form in the first place and how a persistent game would suck without being designed for them.

I was hoping that Star Citizen would be freelancer in space. Or maybe X-wing versus Tie Fighter. It sounds like it will be nothing of these but some shambled attempt at making an EvE sandbox without any sand to play in.

I can't even be bothered subbing. I've subbed onto SWTOR PvE server to learn the game and the level of pathetic there is disgusting... I will check out the PvP server soon, but my hopes are not high. I cba with any other MMO save EVE. SW I signed on for because I'm a SW fan from way back in 1983 when I was cute little tike with Luke Skywalker figurines, and the story game isn't half bad - not as good as KOTOR but I haven't finished it yet. When I finish it, I'll be deciding whether or not to remain subbed and check out the PvP server.

As for SC... not happening. They can't have my money under any circumstances. I already wasted enough when I bought the first WC.

I don't get what the hell they're talking about by "special ships that are fully insured".
Unless they mean rookie ships, then... lol.

So after pledging over $500 in various ships during the pledge campaign, a Constellation, M50, a Cutlass, and 2 300i, I now have gifted them all away and am left with my digital scout Aurora. Mainly because I also fly RC and that money will go a long way toward the 1/4 scale Albatros I want and can fly for the next 2 years or until I crash it at least. My wife says my hobbies are always expensive. Oh well.

Yeah, that urge to pay $500 for a non existing not yet implemented internet spaceship...

P2W maybe. I'll wait and see what the actual rules look like on SC, but it doesn't appear to be very sandboxey.

CCP has no sense of humour.

Well, whats wrong with STO for you? I didn't find it appealing because you can't constantly screwing each other. So it should be what you are looking for?

I really hated the planet side combat and I never found a good community of people to play with. It quickly became a single player game for me and it wasn't compelling enough for that. I do still play it on occasion. I even enjoy the instanced PvP at times.

I never did find Sulu though.

I have been reading the SC forums tonight to pass some time, and I am truly amazed at the level of carebearism and pubbyism being displayed. They make brilliant threads that are putting EVE entitlement threads to shame such as

  • The ability for individuals to be more powerful than organized groups (for teh balancez)
  • The ability to pause the game during PVP to go to the bathroom
  • The ability for people who prefer single player to upload their progress to the main server so they can grind offline (no way to exploit this)

They are afraid of PVP, antisocial, risk averse, and want 15 different games rolled into one. Sound familiar?

Why am I posting this here? Because CCP loves to listen to these kinds of whiners and has lost their HTFU philosophy. I'm concerned that this new alcove of carebearism is going to overfill into our community and ruin it forever. CCP, I am truly begging you. Guard, Greyscale, Eterne, PLEASE DO NOT SUCCUMB TO THESE KINDS OF PEOPLE.

Abloobloo abloobloo people want to play a game in which everyone has fun, instead of a Schadenfreude generator where the fun is had in making people rage.

Nobody can get away with screwing each other, but it's up to players to deliver the consequences. I can see why you dislike this.

How about you be responsible for your own fun? Jesus, people these days...
If you're not having fun with this game, don't play this game or try doing something else.

Scam in Jita on an alt and never undock with them. Consequences?

Make Alt, Suicide Gank in Niarja, never use for anything else. Consequences?

Attack a newbie with no PvP experience and get the jollies. Consequences?

There are many ways in Eve to screw people and escape the consequences. If you don't realize this you're doing it wrong.

I have to admit... it would be fun blowing you up. Why must you deny me my fun? Can't you just hold still in a shuttle and let me blow you up?

You earn a reputation and will never be able to do anything else with that character even if you wanted to.

Lose security status that you have to regain, have public killrights placed on you and bounties other players may want to claim.
