To all you awesome EVE film makers, I have a particular request. I would do this myself, I have the correct tools necessary for video editing etc, but unfortunately, my laptop struggles to record EVE gameplay with various softwares that I've tried, and I keep coming up with really jerky final products for clips to mash together for what I wanted to do...

Which is an EVE clip to the tune of Faint by Linkin Park. So while I wouldn't perhaps get to choose the clips that go into the film, a lot of the work I see go up here is quite exceptional anyway, and I was looking forward to doing this myself and contributing to this forum, but I just can't atm. My hardware sucks Cry

So if one of you epic filmmakers can throw together something to the tune of Faint by Linkin Park, it would be much appreciated, and I would love to see it.

That's fine, I don't care what's in it, as long as it suits the song with rapid cuts and lots of fast combat. I'd love to see it. Link?

You've got some cool fights on that channel, but I was trying to make something more like this except with more in-game footage than trailer footage. And I wanted to use original footage, as well, and ctrl-f9 the UI - hard to do when trying to fight a battle, I know, so I'd been following some high sec incursion fleets around in a pod and dropping cams to record their battles, but I keep coming back with really jerky footage because my hardware is ****.

If someone can scrape together some UI-free in-game footage, though, I'd be happy to cut a video together myself. But this isnt' really what I was looking for.

I prefer 'session' because they do not sing.

Sorry to hijack thread, but Linkin Park would not be high on my list of 'tracks to edit EVE footage to'.

To help: have you tried lowering the graphics of EVE to improve frame rate? Or, have you tried recording to a SSD/HDD other than the one which is being used by your O/S and/or EVE installation?

It makes a huge difference to desktops, and can only imagine it would do the same with a laptop/notebook...maybe an external SATA III would do it? Just an idea...

I am on the LOWEST the graphics will go... I'm using a ****** low end pentium processor on a laptop that overheats when it gets to 85 degrees C.

And I like Linkin Park. Taste is purely subjective Smile

Nothing against them, just thinking about the edit itself.

Editing takes time, and listening to that particular track hundreds of times to get the edit done would irritate, and I'm not convinced could be edited in the way I think you want it to be and be effective.

Session might, it has nice cues for slow motion and speed ramps, as well as that distorted/underwater effect which could work better than a track by them which has lyrics. If you use lyrics that are trying to tell some sort of linear narrative it removes some of the creativity an editor would like, because instead of creating atmosphere, you are trying to match footage - which is a soulless edit.

So when people are watching it, you run the risk of either detracting from the song or detracting from the video - both cases potentially weaken the overall intention or message you wish to convey in the edit.

Just the way I see it. When I hear music, I see EVE.

Ah, I see what you're saying. No, I wouldn't get sick of it, and I wouldn't publish it if it turned out that way. I'm a pretty good editor, and I have excellent software for the job, but the problem is getting the raw footage off EVE. I'm going to have another try of it later today.
