After having looked at the progression from the very first picture, this is very good in comparison. Get the right lighting, angles, and expression and you'll be fine.

I often find that characters I make that don't look particular good on their own look much better when angled appropriately with the right background.

For instance, I have a Caldari character who has a long face when viewed normally. Angled up and to the right, though, with shadows and background coloring that shortens her face a bit and she looks downright pretty.

Just don't worry about the hair/makeup and such. Once you get a bone structure you like, everything else is readily changeable. I actually scrapped a character I made once 'cause she only looked good with one specific makeup and hairstyle.

Just mess around with everything. I've found on a few of my characters that I liked them better after having modified their hair/makeup choices post creation.

Off topic: There are some absolutely gorgeous characters in this thread (both male and female). I kind of like how this thread turned into half advice, half avatar showcase.
