Hello trader community!

I do quit a bit of trading with this char and have about 2 bil to go.
What can I do to lower the isk I loose on sell/buy orders?
I am training now broker relations, than accounting.
What about standings to station owner NPC? How high must it be to have a drop?

This is my actual skilling:
Accounting 4 -> 5 (in 14 days)
Daytrading 5
Margin Trading 3
Marketing 5
Retail 4
Trade 5
Broker Relations 3-> 4 (in 1,5 days)

Base Broker Fee 0,85%
Transaction Tax 0,90%

Standings to station owner NPC: 1,47 (working on that)

Thank you!

You don't need NPC Standings.

Just make sure Broker Relations, Retail, Margin Trading, and Accounting are V.

It also helps if you have at least Tycoon 4

one does not "need" them, but they are a "nice to have", for lowering broker fees. I also consider doing a bit of refining later, there the standings also help.
So my question remains unanswered: how do I get to trade Angel Tags to those Agents? How can I get missions from them (meaning how do I locate them for starting a conversation)?

I went to the Emolgranlan solar system. My Overview (default settings) showed the regular stations, and a beacon for Republic Data Center.

The Data Center is a number of small structures, each with an "agent in space" inside. Right click on the structure with the agent you want, and you will be given the option to start a conversation with the agent.

The agent list at the following webpage appears to be correct:

As for your question about cloaked industrials, Blockade Runners (advanced industrials) can use covert ops cloaks, and can enter warp while cloaked.

Other types of industrials can only use regular cloaks, so they can move only very slowly while cloaked and can not enter warp while cloaked. Sometimes the cloak is enough to save you, sometimes not.

thank you for the detailed response. I'll try finding the agents like you suggested, should boost my standings a bit Pirate

PS: now running for the two Agents in Arlulf (was closer to this system). It is not cheap, but it's a nice boost. Will also take the missions in Emolgranlan. I suppose this missions are not repeatable, or?

Each individual agent will offer you a mission for tags only once, according to any information I have read. I have not run these missions personally.

it;s ok even if it is one time. The two missions in Arlulf (1 curier and one 3 mil worth of tags) brought me a boost of 0,21 faction standing increase. Sad thing is that Brutor Tribe has no agents, so for corp standings I still have to run lvl2 distro missions...boring as hell, but on the other hand it's mostly highsec and I am doing them on autopilot while working, reading, movies, etc
Got the broker fees down to 0,61%. In 4,5 days training for Broker relations to 5 will end, so another drop. Until then it will drop also from more faction and corp grinding.

I found this thread helpful when I was trying to get standing up to save money:

http://community.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1263174

Also, be careful not to fly a cloaky hauler right now - it cannot be scanned by pirates and they are paper thin so they will assume it's full of plunder and gank it (especially in "safe" high-security space). They can solo gank it in a cheap destroyer - of little cost to them.If you must fly a cloaky hauler - fly cloaked all the time, no exceptions.

Safest way to haul in low sec space is toput 2 or 3 "Warp Core Stabilizer I " in your low slots - sacrifice the cargo size - and fly a smaller faster hauler. This will keep you from getting warp jammed and a smaller ship can align and warp faster than a larger one - which can be bumped/rammed/stopped if it doesn't make it into warp fast enough. But don't go into Null Sec with this because you will get bubbled and trapped. That's where quick cloaked haulers do their work.

best of luck.

Thank you Simbellah. I am doing station trading for now, later on I think I'll use contract. Nice thread, very usefull information overall. Sadly I cannot see how I can benefit much from that plan:

1) I will run the career missions for the faction stangings

2) Circle agent missions are nor fitted for me: only one agent gives a one-time faction standings increase, doing all missions to get to that agent is not helping me, since Brutor is not involved... I am doing better distro missions for Brutor (and benefit also from corp standing) and gain faction every 16th mission.

3) data center: did the two missions in Arlurlf and the agent lvl 1 missions in Emolgranlan. I will also run the two missions in Engosi. Having also buy orders for the lvl 2 missions in Emolgranlan, but then I'll stop, it is getting pretty expensive.

4) cosmos: not quite sure if my toon can run them. Also I have spotted only 3 missions from Brutor Tribe agents. I will have to find them and speek to them....maybe I can manage the missions. If not, I will try at a later time (after more combat training, which now is very low on priority and is questionable if it will ever change).

5) R&D agents: if I am not mistaken, there are no Brutors. And only for the faction standing boost, I will not train science, mech/eng/elec, research, laboratory operation to 4 or 5 anytime soon. Maybe never. Not planning on going into researching/manufacturing.

6) epic arc missions: lvl 4 Wildfire sounds good (faction and corp), but: no standings for lvl 4 agents yet and no skills to run them anytime soon. Only epic arc available is The Blood-Stained Stars from Sisters of Eve, again wrong faction, wrong corp....

This leaves me with running courier missions, data center missions to some extent and later on maybe epic arc missions.
To sum it up, I have now 3 more questions:
a) where to find angel tags? ratting with my "main"? Inspite of his 12 mil exp, he is a jack of all trades (just trained him without playing to much, to check out missioning in different ships, exploring, marketing... until I find out what i want)
b) epic arc Wildfire: is there any chance to avoid combat missions? I am willing to courier/buy/explore/mine, but I am not able to combat.
c) broker fee in relation to corp standing: suppose I am in anothercorps station within the jumps my procurement skill level allows me to set orders in another hub where I am currently trading, which standings apply when calculating broker fee? The station I am in or the station where the Buy/Sell order is placed? If I am not mistaking, it is the station I am currently in.

Next goal after training up in marketing will be planetary interaction for an extra passive/low workload income to first cover taxes and fees I pay while trading and later on to pay for PLEX (so when my wife gets angry when I'll play too much, I can at least say: Hey, relax, credit card not involved Lol

SOE epic arc gives you a nice faction boost to one faction of your choice, with no minus on the opposing ones. It also helps lower the broker fees.

Another tip: read the COSMOS missions on websites BEFORE accepting the missions, since you might require stuff currently not readily available, if the mission expires you won't be ever able to take it again.

Question, I'm in a similar boat as the OP, I'm in the expansion stages on my trading alt. Would connections 5 be advisable?

question again: it should be possible to run all 15 career missions (3 systems with 5 agents). I ran yesterday the mission set in Malukker and was heading today to Hadaugago only to find out that no agent has a mission for me! Is there a certain timeframe before I can access the second set of career missions after completing the first one? What am I missing? First one gave me a very nice boost on faction standings and a small drop in Broker relations.
I will go for the SOE while waiting for an answer, but I am not sure that my char can handle the combat missions there....

PS: before doing SOE, I "bought myself some respect " with the last lvl 2 agent and the 3 lvl3 agents (data center)....some 200mil later Broker fees down to 0,5%. And Broker relation not yet to lvl5, takes 2 more days, that will be another 0,05% + SOE + career if you give me a tip... it all adss up. Then corp standings grindfeast again Sad

Get an industrial ship, train remote trading skills to 3, autopilot lvl 4 couriers for your station corp and faction while you trade remotely.

I have trained lvl 4 broker (5 is in the queue now), did all the tutorials for caldari except the three advanced combats, did the easy data centre couriers, traded in the cheap dogtags (why pay more for faction standing than you'll ever recoup in corresponding saved broker fees), and have been casually running couriers on autopilot for around a week. I have .0034 with my target station, and I doubt I`ll bother pushing it much below 0.0025.

So I'm in SOE, finally fighting Dagan. Problem is I cannot crack his shield. I fly only minmatar frigates (lvl3) and destroyers (lvl1), have rockets lvl2, missiles and missile operation lvl2, drones and drone operation lvl3, gunnery and small projectile lvl3. no tech II. No corpmates to help.
What the heck is the best way to get his shield down?

PS: Problem solved. Big thanks to Huntress Wahoola who was in the system and agreed to help!

I got a lot of help these days, so I thought I can also share some recently aquired knowledge to other noobs out there :)

a) YES, Accounting and Broker relations to 5 area must, i'd say now. be patient, train them, you will notice the difference
b) Corp and faction standings can be brought to at least 5 pretty easy by yourself, with exception from Dagan.
c) just do the missions from the links that were shared in this post by Simbellah and Charlepetit LaJoie (data center: don't forget that sometimes to make money you gotta spend some, it's ok in hte long run)
d) something i learned today while doing the career agent missions in Embod (minmatar): take both industry and trading at a time and proceed like follows to save time:
- start first mission from trader, report
- take second mission from trader and first from industry. while you'r jobs for the indy are running, courier the trader mission. gat back, report trader, receive production, report.
- take next 2 missions from both (mining if i remember corectly): go to one of them, mine one cycle, kill rats. warp to second, do the same. return, dock, buy veldspar (pretty cheap), refine, report both. CAUTION: just buying veldspar from beginning does not work. you need to get out, kill the rats and mine at least one cycle. still save time from not undocking/docking twice and from not mining all veldspar.
- take next missions. both are courier missions, one has 9 jumps, one has 10 jumps. they are on the same route. Nothing a speed fitted probe cannot handle regards to cargohold. If you do them independently, you loos a LOT of time.
- return, report, take new. handle them (some combat and scanning or what and something else). only one undocking docking required.
- next two: one is a buy tracking computer, second a production. Do NOT buy the production items, they are WAAAY to expensive in regards to needed minerals. Buy tracking comp and minerals. set up jobs. report the other tracking comp mission and request new. it is a combat/analyze one. get out, kill, analyze, get back report both (jobs finished already).
- next 2 missions are courier: both one jump away, same system, same station. again the probe can handle it. load both cargos,go out, get back, report, renew.
- now trader wants 2 x 1MN afterburner. buy them, report, ask again. only now ask the indy for the next mission. both want something to be produced (you get blueprints). I bought the EMP shells (time vs money) built the shuttle.
- by now you finished trader missions. run mission nr 9 for indy (mine/kill/deliver)
- take mission 10 from indy. he requires you to build a reaper...but you already have it as reward from a previuos trader mission. report.
- I made a few breaks due to IRL problems, but you should be able to run all 20 missions within 1 hour.

now I'm back with another question: I consider retreating to another hub, rens is too intens. And by running all this missions I got standings also with other corps and even gallente and Sisters of EVE, so I consider switching from brutor to someone who has distribution lvl 4. Back to he question: what cargo is required for lvl 3 and foor missions? i can fly a hoarder with 3 cargo expanders, so 5500-6000 cubic meters

Is there any answer we can give you that does not spawn more questions? I think you need a corp that offers lots of help to new pilots.

uhhh...wtf good is this subforum if not to help the .01% of newbies who might be remotely interested in trade and market play...and in their own created thread at that...

You probably need to go outside.

When there's that many questions, it is much better to talk to someone. If you don't think so, fine. I happen to think that it would be quite helpful. The learning curve here is steep, everyone knows that. Kinda' makes writing a forum post and waiting for an answer something akin to snail mail with all the initial information. You can see it in the writing: this person needs in-game people to talk to.
