Check out this recent analysis of Something Awful forum web traffic over the past 2 years, done by Alexa.com. Put the interval on max (2 years) and you can see the clearly decreasing web traffic on Something Awful forums. In another year or 2, they will be even less consequential. For those of you who dont know, this is the main internet forum that Goonswarm recruits from. This allows them to run recruiting scams on new players who dont realize that Goonswarm doesnt recruit from the main Eve population.

Goonswarm's player base has already decreased significantly this year. My point, is to stop kowtowing to an alliance that will be relegated to minor status in the not so distant future. Frankly there are other alliances, and not to mention hi sec players who have deserving of more attention than GS deserves.

its not ccp,its the players who allow the influence of alliance(or guild or whatever you call it in other games) to take control

if every highsec player care as much about the game as GS does,GS would be wiped out in a week - (un)fortunately most of people simply dont give a fck

The only influence I am currently seeing is that apparently they are capable of generating hysteria in you.

CCP doesn't allow it, we all do. Or rather, Goons take their EVE much more seriously than most other players to a point where 500 poopsocking neckbeards will make for victories on the battlefield. Cultural victory at its finest tbh.

It doesn't matter where they're recruited from, unless it's illegal. Their external base has nothing to do with how they have their influence in EVE.

The problem is how the mechanics allow larger alliances to monopolise large areas without necessarally using them, and how that puts obsticles in the way of other alliances growing to challenge them.

The problem with this problem is that salted-earth is a valid tactic.

this mentality amuses me.

actually, why do you do that? does it make you feel better about yourself? is it a way to vent jealousy? honestly, it baffles me.

Au contraire, I am merely a concerned Eve citizen who sees that dangerous misbalance of power in this game can have a detrimental experience on everyone's game experience.

As you can see by GS's declining player base, esp. this year, and now the death knell is sounding , with the decline of the Something awful forums from which they recruit, you can easily see GS is in decline.

I am merely pointing out to CCP that they can finally stop bending backwards everytime the Goons scream about something. This is good thing for the game. Whats wrong with that?

What has CCP to do with this?

Point to where they have bended over backwards at all for Goonswarm. I have not seen them give Goonswarm one thing at all.

and what was the last thing ccp did to "bend over backwards" for goons?
if you can give me a proper answer to that, i'll give you a pack of tissues to dry your eyes with.

i fail to see how there's a misbalance of power anywhere either, to be blunt. at least, not one caused by anything other than the players.

That's a lot of words to say "umad" so props for that. And no, as much as you'd hope me to be, I'm not mad or care at all, I'm simply replying to the OP explaining that it's not CCP that makes it happen it's us the players. Me, you and everyone else. People who want something more than others will probably get it. If I wanted it I'd probably do something about it but as I don't that means I'm not "mad", no.

The last time I lived in 0.0 (and for a short stint only) was in 2009, I simply can't deal with morons, clowns, retards and jokers and as being in a large corp/alliance by definition means you'll run into those quite a lot I choose to pass on that. As such I'm not affected by anything that happens in 0.0, or anywhere else really.

ah, it's frustration with the way 0.0 works.
a valid reason, i suppose.

This pops up regulary, however, every few years the names change. I'm no fan of Goonswarm, but I do admire how they solidly controll their part of nullsec for so long.

Know your history, once Goonswarm were heralded as heroes, ushering in a new age after the Fall of BoB, but let a hero live long enough, and he'll become the new villian.
Empires rise, empires fall, some last longer then others. Once people trembled & raged about BoB, claiming they could not been beaten, now it's GoonSwarm, over a few years, perhaps a new Order will rise, and we'll think back on the *good old times*, when Goonswarm proved a true challenge, organized ganking events and what other things we might remember them for.

Just keep this in mind, Empires stay in power, not because people support them, but because the opposition rather fights amongst itself on what should be, instead of rising up as one front.
