Ive been trying to instpop frigates in lowsec with my tornado. I have an alt with remote sensor boosters boosting my scan res up to 1630. I have lost at least 4 frigate though that are able to warp away after they drop cloak on the gate after jumping in. Am i doing something wrong here? Why is it not insta locking/popping them with that high of a scan res?

Looked up...saw this F***ING clown dropping like a rock.  Woke up in Vylade wondering what just happened!!!

Four sensor boosters? Lots of frigates in my area too and I've thought about having the occasional gank too.

Need moar scan res.

Scammers are currently selling killrights on this toon for up to 5mil, if you have paid for this service demand your money back at once.

Killing me should be for free.

Works as intended. A well nanoed frigate gets too fast into warp, regardless what your scan resolution is. You can basically get only non-nano frigates at gates if you do not bait them into not warping right away.

Wow... you want advice on how to make skill-less PvP even easier?

Here is one... get a BS, fit a stack of smartbombs on it and sit on a gate. Instant kills for you and that KB will look so deceptively green, that everyone will also know how good you are at PvP! You will be the most feared pilot in EvE!

... get out.

Battleship artillery tracks slower than molasses. Battleship autocannons do somewhat better, but frigates can outpace their transversal. As mentioned above, frigates can align and warp very quickly; often, they'll be in warp within a second of breaking gate cloak.

There is no one ship - even one that's sensor-boosted to the eyeballs - that will get a guaranteed kill on anything passing through a gate. For that, you need a full-blown gate camp, with tackle, varying weights of weaponry, and scouts. And even a well-organized gate camp can get torn to pieces if something nasty comes through (say, a couple dozen Tier-3's doing a starburst out from the gate).

I have a tornado that I have been experimenting for ganking in the manner you describe. First your doing it wrong if you expect to kill anything before it warps. Most kills you have to set yourself up so you shoot things coming to a location be it a gate or station, people on auto-pilot are obviously the easiest. If your target is moving above slow-boating or worse yet your target gets close, even with max gun skills, tracking enhancers, tracking computers or tracking implants your probably still going to miss. I first experimented with it at 120km and even with max skills and implants found hitting even a slow-boating frigate was iffy at best. After trying various ranges I found 35-50km to deliver the best preformance with faction EMP. EFT says it can easily do 11K volley with REP Fleet EMP and after having a couple dessies disappear to dust on first shot It's probably true. You also spend more in ammo than you get in loot, which if your just a griefer after km and lol's is fine I guess. I actually live off my pirating proceeds so this ship is fairly counterproductive in that respect IMO. The main problem in being a sniper bc or bs, most of your fitting is ate up by your guns which leaves you highly vulnerable to gate guns. Ive had to leave kills behind I would have taken in any of my other bc because i had to warp out of gate gun range. AC would allow a better tank but I don't see alot of uses that I can't fit a hurricane to do almost as good (or better) at less money. After a couple days trying it out it's probably going to collect alot of dust in my hangar until I find a requirement to snipe something.

A alpha gank tornado specializes in destroyers, some cruisers and haulers. That's about it. If a frig pilot is paying attention you won't be able to target him quick enough most of the time, even with 3 plus sensor boosters.

To those that contributed - Thank you.

To those that took the elite approach and automatically thought i was some moron with no idea how to PvP - get ******. I simply enjoy inst-popping people from time to time (as has been done to me a few times) for no other reason than to do it and smile. Its fun.

A douche? Compared to who exactly? Noobsec blobbers? "Small gang pvpers" who never fight other small gangs, only 1 or 2 ships? "Solo" pvpers who roll with OGBs and/or 2 Guardian alts?

It is fun ;-). Until the frigate gets its transversal up and suddenly burns for you...

You can't get the Tornado to insta-locking scan res range, not since the stacking penalty has been fixed for SeBos. That requires a bigger base resolution, like an inty or a thrasher. Even then, covops and very agile frigs that are on the ball will often warp before lock and some agile ones will get enough transversal up for you to miss or (worse) get them to low struct with a glancing blow.

Moral of the thread is....insta-pop destroyers instead of frigs :)
