WTB corp tag that doesn't suck. or sell this one. effing NPC corps...

You can haz Scope memberships. Do not want.

If nothing really productive comes of this conversation, there's always FW corps for PvP training and such.

If your not looking for major fleet fights where almost everyone is a cog in the machine, what your probably looking for is one of the smaller but elite and highly active alliances like Outbreak or Darkside. No idea what their recruitment practices are, if you don't have a strong KB history, you may need work on that first.

Why the hell would I bother? I've known I wasn't eligible for the goons since i first made this toon back in 06. same for TEST and a few other web community groups.

Plus while it would be fun to drag out the scammer pitch for maximum LULz and post it here... too much work.

You're not eligible for Goonwaffe or Dreddit.
Nearly every other corp in the CFC and HBC, including corps in GSF and TEST, takes applications and doesn't require membership to some external website. I was a highsec carebear who ran incursions and very occasionally dabbled in PVP. I got into my current corp just fine.

It was a fairly easy process, too. They asked me for my full API, gave me a short questionnaire on their website (multiple choice questions like "what do you do when the FC says hold on the gate", "what do you do if FC tells you to jump into a suicidal situation", that sort of thing. I spent a couple days talking to them in their public channel, quite informally. There was no heady interview. They outlined their requirements, I agreed to them, and they accepted my application.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

good info. Might have a look. other'n that I'm keeping my options open. I'm not going to hold my breath.

Mostly because I'm making it a policy of shooting suspect tags without looking at the corps, so we'll see if I alienate myself.

Edited because I hate spelling like a moron.

Not everyone in nullsec is a micromanaging asshat. There are corps that don't do some of the batshit stuff you hear horror stories about, and i even doubt MOST corps are as bad as all the highseccers believe.

If you get caught and yer not blue and you get caught you get shot. We knew that already, it's an accepted fact of life. Moving along.

But I bear firmly in mind, step into a fleet, X up and your ass belongs to the FC until the op's done, your ass explodes or its time to log off. I'm ex-military, I can follow orders just fine. I just don't feel like having a mandate of "you will mine X ore" or, "you will go sit on this gate for the next six hours and do nothing but watch it" when there's nothing major hitting the fan. Got no problem volunteering, but I draw the line when someone tells me what my skill queue must look like at all times beyond reasonable minimum competencies or decdes how I will play the game I'm paying for from the moment I log on to the moment I log off.

Demanding that people not go out of their way to be idiotic isn't reasonable, nor is asking them to follow orders when you're engaging enemy caps or indulging a POS bash, or whatever. That's not micromanagement, it's teamwork.

I was going to write a complicated response about how alliances that take the attitude of "You WILL do X" tend to failscade fairly quickly under pressure, but then I realized that you're a troll.

Most nullsec renters are pretty upfront about the arrangement, seeing as they want to collect their dues to pay the landlord with.
So I suggest... asking them?

Where do they find people who say "I totally want to be a renter !"

kb-centric nullsec alliances

haha -A- is godawful.

Anyone know how to say that in Klingon?

Micromanaged is a vague term, and often used in an insulting fashion.

What sort of micromanaging are you trying to avoid?

i think that would require a militant trekkie.

So what are good places for new PvPers to learn the ropes?

for the record I'm only half-trolling. Serious about moving to nullsec, not seriously settling on a particular corp or have my sights on one. I was under the impression that GSF and TEST were all under the same recruitment policies as the waffe and dreddit.

If I'm wrong, great. If not, whatever, I'm not paying an application fee.

Serious commentary, I'm a subcap specialist and can drive every single Tech 1 combat hull, and am a habitual smartass that doesn't really care about much other than having fun in a game. I'm cool with adhering to fleet ops and orders, and understand the difference between Hold on the gate and Jump through gate. My ambitions are pretty much making caps explode.

If I have to I know how to do indy **** but really am not horrifically interested. I'd rather learn Siege warfare links and command ships than continue the industrial command track.

I actually like flying logi and teamwork. Other than that I'll go back to my halfhearted attempts to troll everyone.

Nobody micromanages to that extent. Some groups require you to join fleet if you're on comms or logged into EVE, some have participation guidelines and some simply do not audit participation. Beyond that, skill requirements are a thing, but their purpose is to ensure that everyone performing a certain fleet role (i.e. flying logi) can do so optimally. However, I don't know about anyone being forced to watch a gate or mine a certain ore.

Does Goonwaffe audit participation?
My corp requires everyone to have at least one active PVP toon. While you're on probation it's wise to go on as many fleets as you can, but once you become a full member they loosen up a bit. I've gone a month without joining fleets (albeit logging on almost every day) but they did start to grumble after a while.

Haven't been on a killmail with my main in almost two months now. I've only logged in to queue skills lately.
