looking at exploration

can we have exploration looked at soon? As a US timezone player I feel like I'm a little discriminated against by people who do exploration closer to downtime. Not sure if this is just a regional thing, and maybe I should go some place with less crowding (although NPC 0.0 isn't that over-populated).

I also feel that 0.0 and lowsec mag sites are out of line with radars and combat sites in reward/effort ratio. I make on average like 20 mil off a 0.0 mag site (this is generous, sometimes they're worth like 1-2 mil), while I can make more like 50-80 mil doing radars (depending on how lucky I am of course!)

I'd also like to see some more randomization put into complexes and sites. It gets kind of boring running the exact same site for the 100th time, and knowing the exact spawns, locations, and damage dealt. I'd like exploration to provide a much richer, more dynamic content than it does right now. Even something like random scenery differences would be nice.

Its been a few years since anything dramatic has happened to exploration, and I know we've got lots of other things to ballence first, but I think this is something that could be quickly fixed, and even with just a little bit of effort done well.

I completely agree. Although I can see the excitement of PVP wars and territory grabbing.. I'm just not into it... Olimax is entirely exploration-focused and lately it seems there's not a lot of love/creativity/focus put into the Exploration. experience. There's that new frigate but whoop-dee-doo... I'm talking about randomization (agreeing with prev post) ... perhaps more interesting and random things/people/creatures/stories at sites.. even if it was mostly text the experience would be much richer, I don't care about isk, I care about the gaming experience... and Exploration used to be more fun.. now that wormholes are full of towers, it's not exploration, it's trespassing/looting...

I became so thirsty for unique exploration experiences, I started making a comic book about Olimax's exploration adventures.. http://arhantacomics.com Now I don't expect to see planetary exploration (would be neat) but I do throw my vote into the next expansion putting some heart and soul into the explorer's experience.. sure, pew pew against each other (boring) .. what's more fun is solo or small gang exploring against the creative and puzzling forces of CCP's designers...

If you feel like exploration could use a boost in the in-game experience reply to this thread !

Speaking of exploration, I think that giving wormholes their own 'type' of say "Wormhole" (vs. the current "Unknown" which is shared with K-space combat signatures) would save a lot of fist-shaking and angry grumbling from both known-space explorers and actively diving wormholers. Anyone think otherwise?

P.S @ Olimax: "Full of towers"? Uh, we run into unoccupied wormholes on a regular basis...its just that much of the 'prime' territory has already been snapped up.

I've only done a little bit of lowsec exploration. Radar and mag sites are getting pretty boring - they're really the same thing over and over again. After doing a mag site, I feel like I've wasted my time. The same amount of time I spent working to find that mag site and run it I could have had more ISK spoonfed directly to me in a level four. Sometimes I get T2 BPCs for rigs from the mag sites, but it seems most rigs (even the T1) are not in high demand and I'm not likely to get a useful one. With the current mineral prices, I don't feel grav sites worth sitting in with dscan on for the amount of ISK I could have got mostly AFK in highsec belts.

I like getting expeditions, they're good fun. I finished my first expedition that went all the way to nullsec by myself recently. I felt pretty proud (I don't have much experience with null), especially as I can't use cloaky T3s yet. I flew a Ferox. Getting Radar sites feels good for my wallet but are still not very interesting to run. I haven't mined gas, but the combat gas sites are interesting and lucrative.

I live in Australia and I've never really felt crowded when doing exploration. There's usually something to do within a few jumps. (that doesn't include anoms as I'm in FW space) It's said that sites are spawned at certain intervals (30 min, 2 hours or something), maybe EVE should detect how many players are actively exploring and spawn a number of sites calculated to create competition without overcrowding, if it doesn't already?

I also wonder if increasing the amount of T2 salvage got from mag sites can make them more lucrative and increase the amount of salvage around for T2 rigs to be cheap enough to manufacture that they can be worth considering to fit on PVP ships? Is it possible for both of these things to happen at the same time with an increase in salvage or a decrease in production costs of T2 rigs?

Shhh..

Sorry folks he meant to say that it is horrible being Australian we get the short end of the stick pay no attention to his ramblings Lol

But seriously it would be nice to not have to scan everything in a wormhole again just because you get disconnected. You scan down all the bookmarked sites in the wormhole, and start on the new ones and bam disconnected and you get to start all over again.

Any spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors are because frankly, I don't care!!

I feel like there's nothing particularly blaringly wrong to fix, just little things that could be itterated on to make exploration much nicer. Some good things have been suggested here, so I'll renumerate my demands Lol.

1) A look should be taken on the spawn system for exploration. Maybe also Something could be done to give pilots a better idea where spawns are in a constelation. Not sure how that could be done, but I'm really really sick of having to launch 6 probes, cover a solar system, and probe just to discover I've been beat to it.

2) There should be some discernable difference between combat sites and wormholes.

3) Mag sites should be reballanced to fall in line with radar ladar and combat sites, since currently, you can maybe make 20 mil off one if you get SUPER DUPER UBER lucky.

4) sites should be made more random, I'd prefer more dynamic content rather than just more sites.

5) my new demand, expand the line of exploration ships into cruisers and beyond! I demand it!
