eve pve content is pretty horrid. that's not going to draw players.

But there would still be all the PvP you could want in 0.4 and below, or is it the chance of PvP anytime that is the attraction?

Why would the PvPers want to play on that server?

Wait no let me guess Roll

OK I've made a guess. Surprise me.

Op seems to think that the people who don't want high sec pvp would play an mmo with challenging PvE.

No they wouldn't. They want to grind shinies like they're playing diablo 2. It doesn't matter what blows them up, if theyre getting blown up they'd quit.

Let's be honest. I mean really really honest. How many times do you get ganked in a day of playing? Once, maybe twice, and that's only if you are really unlucky. No one bothers to gank a t2 fit BS, or any other assault type craft, it just isn;t worth it unless they are really shiny. All in all, if you are scared of being ganked, there are things you can do about it, many of them are done before you undock, in you fitting, and the rest is done in space, with how paranoid you are.

Why would the PvPers want to play on that server?

This is the fundamental error behind these suggestions. Some think EVE would work without PvP and others think that PvPers will play on a PvE server.

So far, roughly zero times every 1040 days… P

Eve -> Famous for being a PvP game on a single 'shard' (if I say server someone will start on about server farms)

OP -> Now famous for missing the point completely

Vincent -> Not the first person to use the phrase 'HTFU'

I have deliberately developed an air of cynicism that I originally intended to make me appear somewhat louche and caddish but actually comes across as irritable hostility combined with the unspoken threat of sudden violence.....

1) No. The whole reason I started playing and still play this MMO is because it doesn't have silly 'PVP servers' that mean nothing.

2) Very few. Just removing PVP from hi sec doesn't really change the game to a high enough degree that flocks of new players would come to the game. EVE is just not a theme park MMO, PVP in hi sec or not.

Remember that PVP goes beyond combat. Are you asking that competitive markets also be removed from hi sec? So if I want he best prices I now have to go to the competitive markets in low ne null? Because only high, fixed prices can be used in hi sec to keep the traders happy.

Be careful what you wish for, eh.

Hey all. Thread rule = keep it clean.

OK - I have read some of the threads about new server shards, and was curious about the idea of a consensual PvP server. What I had in mind was something exactly like the current one, except:

PvP only allowed in lowsec (0.4 and below)

That's it.

My questions are:

1) Who here would move completely to the new server?

2) How many new players do you think this would attract? On many other fora there seem to be lots of folks who like the look of Eve, the mechanics, but just don't go for PvP. Let's face it, this is the best space sim out there.

Note: Please try and keep on topic and not diverge off into rants about carebears, ganking and the like; we have seen that all before and don't need a repeat.

My answers:

1) I would

2) A lot

Tell me, what would you do on this PvE server that disallows PvP in highsec? Everything in this game is PvP.
