“Surprisingly.”

It's a fairly middle-of-the-road kind of hauler. You can do a lot of stuff with it to make it fill almost any role, but you can't push it to any real extremes. So when people look at it, it usually comes off as “less than an Itty V” or weaker/slower/whatever than something else, but as a single package, it can be pretty darn versatile.

It also has a rather strong tank. Usually unless you are hauling ORE or Ships you don't need the full space and if you fill it with modules or stuff of value you have a wide target on your back.

Module Passive Autopilot or Module Active for Flying you can hold a good tank. It is a good idea to keep and rig a second ship besides a hauling one for any cargo of value considering the low cost of the ship.

When not going on a haul where volume = all, the Badger II is my personal favorite of the lower tier haulers. The reasons have already been stated perfectly above by Alara and Tippia. It's a very underrated ship because of all the Iteron V cargo size focus.

I'd go for a Mammoth tbh. It is easy learnable within ~5 days. And it can hold 28k Cargo, enough to fit in a full jetcan.
And it has good agility.
Itty V is not worth it unless you go for freighter, so this a good alternative. But even then I go for the minmatar Freighter because I like the look of it.
But in the end, it all comes down to your personal needs.

It has a mid sized cargo hold, it only has 3 lows, its two highs are meh but it what it has over all the other haulers is a lot of mid slots. perfect to set up a shield tank so you can start taking the higher valued stuff without worrying about the small camps and possible suiciders you may encounter.

Yeah, the MK II is a good ship.

What I'm hoping for however is that when CCP do the balance pass on the T1 Haulers, they go and finally add the Badger Mk III into the game. The hull already exists and is used for the Bustard.

This will:

1) A third industrial ship for the Caldari, putting them on par with the Minmatar. Leaving only the Amarr with two.

2) Competition for the Itty V if it's made to be a level V skill. Or at least, competition on slots/HP etc...

3) Make use of the Mk III hull.

Oddly enough although tiericide is happening for pretty much all the ships, the industrials are about the only line of ships where having tiers makes perfect sense, even if the tiers are price vs cargo space, rather than skills.
