He just did? It is not ad hominem to point out you fail to understand things.

neither is the 'worthless highseccers' sentence Marlona named 'ad hominem' despite the fact Andski was not calling them 'worthless' to address the argument. it was just an insult

e: although telling someone they don't understand without also addressing their argument is an ad hominem fallathing, as it is possible that someone who is ignorant can also be correct

I snipped out the ad hominem attacks. So that statement, why don't you go ahead and explain it. Speak your mind son.

Don't you understand it already? How many of Krall Amarr's bots did you petition when he was in NCdot?

Considering I was not in NC. during that time or around NC. space, I would have to say.... zero. I'm not sure what that has to do with it. If I suspect someone of botting, I will report them. I'm certainly not going to harbor them or turn some blind eye because they are blue. It makes no difference to me. Botting is bad for the health of this game and affects everyone.

It is very true that those that live for drama are one of the biggest killjoys in the game.

However, I have to admit that I regard botting as one of the biggest problems we have in game.

Running an alliance and finding out that one of your biggest supporters is running a botting ring puts any alliance leader in a difficult position. On one hand they may very well want to do what is best for the game and it's players, but on the other hand such activities can provide a huge advantage to him and all of those players in his organization.

In the past I have followed my conscience and supported reporting botters, and I believe I will continue to do so. Mainly because, in the final analysis, if I have to resort to turning a blind eye to things of this nature to succeed... what the hell is the point of continuing to play.

How are you coming to the conclusion that reporting a botter classifies you as a kill joy and or someone who likes to create drama? People who report botters are heroes!

We have no way of knowing who reports who. Investigating such things is impossible and our policy of "don't report blues" is essentially unenforceable unless the person reporting our members and allies is openly bragging about it. People who brag about that just create unnecessary drama, which we don't really care for. Do you get it now?

So basically in a nutshell the powers that be in certain circles are condoning and profiting from botting, using said profits in funding super capitals including Titans as well as keeping Tribal Band afloat with the upper persons turning a blind eye. Sounds about right to me.

We all knew for a long time with the explosion of Supers being on the field (PL has what something like 300 Titans now alone?) that it really is a cheating mans game. And with the implication that certain devs are turning a blind eye because it could hurt profits with subscriptions is even more disturbing.

It will be quite amazing seeing the smoke and mirrors all parties play in this. Go ahead sell me that bridge. Because no amount of damage control spun bullshit can sway others here. It really is quite a shame too.

That leaders and even entire Alliances are privy to using bots to keep their sov bills paid and capital fleets in top shape is to me despicable. But then again I have a bit of Reynolds Wrap on my head at the moment so disregard whatever I'm typing on the subject.

Oh I also want to mention in case anyone is paying attention that if you really care about this issue this is the polar opposite of how to get a result.

We'll use the security world as an example because that's what I'm most familiar with. If I discover a vulnerability on a website it is completely irresponsible for me to go and publish that vulnerability in the public without first notifying the responsible parties and giving them time to act.

In this case you're basically telling these people someone's watching them and you think they'll continue doing bad things if they think we're going to look into this?

This is completely irresponsible and in the future if you honestly care about an issue you will report it to me and give us time to look into it before telling the world about it. I'm not saying not to write about it at all, but saying we've been notified and publishing all the potatoes without giving us an opportunity to look into it is more than a bit disingenuous.
