Which faction to join in FW

Quick question that I obviously didn't have the skill to google for.

If I'm mainly trained towards shield tanking, is Minmatar the better choice or does it even matter?
If fleets are run, I bet it helps if everyone is of the same armor type.

Thanks

I would say you can go for any of the factions, it is simply a matter of what you want to do in the game.

There is no reason why you cannot switch to armor. If you want to remain with shields, Caldari or Minmatar might be in your interest.

I'm making this post without regards to what the map looks like.

Which faction is irrelevant. It's more a matter of which corp will allow you to fly shield tanking ships. Based on my experience, I'd say 70% or more of Caldari corps lean towards shield.

I'd say join Caldari or Amarr, wait just join Amarr <3. As for minnies in a kitchensink it doesnt matter what you are. That os as long as you aren't a spork.

In my circles we tend to fly quick ships that, if tanked will tend to be shield tanks. Primarily because a brawler WILL die, at least with a kiting ship you have a chance of running before ZE BLOB hits you.

Armour seems to be preferred when you know you either hold the position or die. Defending medium plexes with armour cruisers come to mind. Nothing like some SFI's, arbi's and execs to really hold a plex down good. Then round the edges of the warp in at 30km or so you may have some fast kiters to hunt down the guys that get in and try to gain distance on the armour ships.

Arguably though all militias employ these simple tactics so tbh aim for a pvp style you want to get good at and try it out with whichever militia you fancy.

Good Sir;

Just fit 2 warp core stabs and run if you get into trouble. You don't need a corp or fleet.
You can solo small plex's in a t1 rifter with 2wcs, thats as much as you will ever need.

You sir, are what kill FW. OP, shield tanking seems to be preferred in FW right now due to the inevitable "blob" that appears anytime you engage a target. Shield gives you the GTFO ability that is much needed. Although the armour Gallente boats do have quite the staying power now when armour tanked.

More than just a little.

Caldari run, I'd say, 90% shield fleets just because shields tend to give great mobility....even with the close range brawling boats (blaster Moa ftw). A close second would be Minmatar but from my understanding they run a lot of kitchen sink fleets....at that point it doesn't really matter. Shield/armor choice only matter when you have logis following you around.

You along with the whole Caldari Militia should join the Amarr. They are t2 and have a good chance of sticking it too the Minnie.

I personally have always like Minmatar. Good people, good fun... no blobbing non-sense, no constant running, no emoraging FCs. But it's the people that make it fun. Been in Caldari and Amarr, just not as fun as Minnie.

It depends on what you want, and your SP level, Faction wise the Gals and Minmatar are technically 'winning' the war, more on the Gals side then the Minnies. The Amarr are doing better then the Caldari at the moment it seems. Either side can be pretty much the same honestly, I've only ever been in Caldari so i wouldn't really know but from discussions with others it seems to depend on the specific corps within the militia, not the militia itself.

Don't base your decision on your current skill set. The longer you spend in-game, the less it matters. Nearly every PvPer cross-trains, and people often mix things up based on what's appropriate for the situation.

Instead, focus on finding a good FW corporation. Look for a group with the type of philosophy, atmosphere, and people you'd enjoy spending your EVE pew pew time with, day in and day out. There are plenty that are recruiting, even if you're a new-ish player. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

LOL. That's a good portion of the Minmatar. Not all of their groups, but definitely the norm from Late Night Alliance and Iron Oxide.

The day you guys in fweddit take FW seriously is the day I quit. Safe to say I'll be here for a while. Cool

This just gave me a good idea. When you go to a Plex gate with a shuttle or n00b ship it says something like 'This gate is not configured to accept...." and doesn't let you in.

Maybe WCS should also cause some kind of disruption to the Plex acceleration gates that means you can't activate them. In keeping with the reason enter said plexes and I'm sure someone get make it make sense from a warp theory point of view( I hope lol)
