Right for the weekend we have another EVE Community Spotlight ready for you!

Making internet spaceships explode is a pretty popular hobby amongst the EVE Online players, but what would that be without the satisfaction to collect the resulting killmails as trophies and put them on display for everyone to see? Where else could you better display your assorted collection of sweet victories than on a public killboard? Intel gathering, theory crafting, bragging, event documentation ... killboards can be used for many purposes and they are quite popular within the EVE community. Only few killboards however are up to the task to host all the millions of kill notifications produced by the EVE community over the years.

The eleventh Spotlight is about EVE-KILL.

Read more about EVE-KILL in the Community Spotlight here.

Oh my ... I didn't know that the Chribba was such a bloodthirsty person! Or is that just all a clever plan to lure people into the realm of carebearness?

I have evidence that everyone hero of a carebear is in fact the most brutal mass murderer of veldspar roids.

Sorry to shock you in this fashion but its the truth, the guy that everyone trusts is a killer.

You only realise you life has been a waste of time, when you wake up dead.

Ah that 'massive ship battle several years ago' had some interesting results. NC was lured into a trap and lost several super capitals. After down time, all the super capitals that were killed, magically reappeared into awaiting NC arms. The official decision on if they were allowed to keep them did not come till after Vuk Lau (leader of NC) finished his CSM trip in Iceland.

You guessed it, the investigation stopped and the ghost titans were never taken away.

IMHO killboards like this are not a positive for the game.

There are stats that can be figured from this like kill efficiency which I can see the intent of was reasonable. I mean it's fairly easy to get a high win/loss ratio if you run around in a very expensive ship and only engage cheaper ships but the isk values were figured in to see who could kill with lesser equipment or at least make it so that if you want to fight with expensive ships then you have to kill many lesser ship to even break even to loosing one.

However what it has become is pilots that want to consider themselves tough hardened combat pilot run around and only engage mining barges or other expensive ships that don't stand a chance against them and will push their ratio up fast.

To me a killboard that had a positive effect on the game would be one that encouraged pilots to engage other combat pilot and even encourage people to engage when out numbered and out gunned.

When the biggest, baddest, toughest combat pilot on a given KB is the one that has killed the most barges or caught the most anom runners with their pants down it seems to me to be a fail KB that is not only not doing it's job but reducing the quality of game play in general.

Interesting to see Blasters #1 in the rankings yet a Gallente ship is barely in the top 20.

Lemme back youre position from an entirely different place. I've spent many battles flying scout in a covops. Did I play a part in the battle? Sure. Am I on any of the killmails generated? Nope. Many logi pilots get boned by KM's, too. There's nothing wrong with eve-kill in this regard. It's the whole KM system. (I have no suggestions to change this--I consider it a recruiting intelligence test.)Idea

Don't fall into the trap of thinking gankers are killing folks to get their k/d ratios up. Most are just looking for some fun. It's also not hard to pump up yer ratios by flying interceptors for the same reasons you give in converse order. I can lose 3 inties but be in on 5 BS kills and my ratio looks FAT.Cool

Let's be real for a sec...killboards really suck because they record some of our worst mistakes. I won't fault them for that.

Note that you won't see any loss of EVSCO or EVSCO Industries on eve-kill.net Shocked

Don't be scared, because being afk is not a crime.
