To be exact, the caldari ice interdiction resulted in 600 billion in damage. It proved that miners were so greedy they refused to sacrifice their max yeild setups for a tank and simply whined for 8 months untill CCP made their problem go way. This showed us that even the most daft things can come to pass if we don't beat them down without mercy with as many facts and numbers as we can get hold of. Hence our detailed freighter record.

Hopefully we can get CCP to make another pass on the barges so we can get a balanced lineup this time around.

won't happen. ccp are perfectly happy with the current "diversity". see their last dev blog on the issue.
however, barges do need looking at, the changes were wide of the mark on several levels.

Anybody who's skills are so poor that he can AFK mine with, he claims an Orca boosting alt and his Wunderful no-tank retriever, is not a miner.

He's not playing, he's not mining, he is just poasting crap to fuel the anti-high sec Goons, who to achieve their goal of ruining the game for everyone, must go after high sec.

plex, naturally. i have several accounts and don't have a tree that grows money.
various ships, currently contemplating purchasing a freighter not entirely sure it's the best investment of my isk though so we'll see.

how do i actually play the game? well i've been know to shoot red crosses on occasion, i've also been known to do some station trading, i've even scanned down a few sites with probes etc. i'm not some 8 year veteran like most people so i keep trying random things. i won't lie about it though, a large proportion of my time is spent mining.

congratulations, in a game where non-contribution is detrimental is punished, as it should be. however, how is me not being at my keyboard in a situation where me being at the keyboard isn't required in any way detrimental to any one, and why should it be punished?

please, enlighten me.

players aren't punishing afk miners in the slightest, players are simply finding enjoyment in annoying other players; just how it should be. this is what i like about the game.

if this were any other game i wouldn't be playing it because it'd be dull and based on every one should get a gold sticker for taking part even if you suck.



Strangely, your comparison is akin to getting isk for afk mining... you are even defending afk mining as "playing".

I applaud your need to find people to quote all over the place to argue, but it really is unfounded.

I'm sorry, I was mistaken, I thought I was talking to someone who thought themselves intelligent enough to call out someone's post as incoherent whilst starting sentences without using capitals. I get the feeling, though, that no matter what anyone says, you're best reply is going to be something along the lines of "lalalalalalalalalalalala I'm right, you're wrong, nya nya ner nya nya". The reason nobody can enlighten you isn't because they have nothing to enlighten you with. It's because you refuse to be enlightened.

And that, I assume, is what minerbumping.com is all about. Making the ignorant wake up and pay attention. The fact that you think you aren't required at the keyboard at all is interesting - mining may be a "push F1 and wait" activity, but it doesn't mean you don't pay attention to what's going on. Unless you're mining in a 1.0-0.9 system, you've got to watch for rats. Unless, of course, you have your drones deployed and set to "aggressive", in which case all someone needs to do is wait for you to be alone, wait for your drones to kill a rat, and then steal from the wreck, in which case your drones will aggro them, meaning they can shoot you without getting CONCORDED. New killrights system? Pah, you're alone, remember, and afk. Don't think it doesn't happen, even in high sec, I've seen it twice in the last week.

You do what you want to. I'm not saying that AFK mining is wrong, though. I'm saying that it's stupid, as is many people. That's a point that a lot of miners seem to be missing - we don't think you're morally bankrupt because you're mining afk, we think you're morons that need to be taught a lesson.

But no, you are not actively playing the game if you are not putting your time and effort in to it.

So.

You very purposely don't play EVE Online, so that you can continue to very purposely not play EVE online next month. You don't see why you should maybe just ACTUALLY not play EVE?

what can i say? microsoft word spoils me, it puts capital letters in for me, it's become habit to let it do so and therefore i forget that not everything is as nice as microsoft word.

actually, being a push f1 and wait activity is exactly why i don't have to be at the keyboard. there's a key difference between having to be at the keyboard, and the fact that i should be at the keyboard. i'm fully aware that when i'm not at the keyboard my ship can be molested and i won't be there to do anything about it. also, drones don't aggro on people who steal your wreck, trust me i've had destroyers taking my wrecks for weeks and my drones haven't even tried to attack them. might want to check that?

perhaps it is stupid, but i'll gladly risk a 25m isk ship for passive isk income while i do other things. to me, it's a chance worth taking. to be honest, it all comes down to the definition of "afk mining" generally my "afk mining" is me simply tabbing to VLC and watching a movie, or a few episodes of a tv series. i'm not afk, but i'm also in no way paying attention to the game.

i won't disagree, i'm not actively playing the game when i mine, that's why i mine, so i can do other things while making isk.

of course.

just the other day i flew a thrasher to osmon to shoot at a guy but he was docked. therefore i left my thrasher there and i'll go back later when he's not docked and try and surprise him.
right now i'm doing some of these storyline missions before they expire, no sense in wasting them even if they are kinda dull.

there's more to me than mining, however i do spend the majority of my time mining. however that's generally a function of being able to do it while i do other things that i have to do outside of the game.

Wow, plexing multiple accounts to mine with so that a person can just muck about in other parts of the game?

I pay for a couple of accounts with RL money because I can make money faster than I can make isk.

Then I only have to play the parts of the game that I enjoy (which does, on occasion, include mining).

you say that like paying for your subscription instead of letting the game pay for itself is some how better... i only "play" the parts i enjoy and i don't pay any money from my bank account for it.
