What's the deal, yo?

Same here all of a sudden got about 70 likes in one day .Assumed someone was bored as hell so asked in my salesthread if the bored person could stop it as it's annoying.A day later i got 40 extra likes ..... Roll

I was unaware until this thread that people actually cared if others "liked" what they were posting. Mind = Blown

Threads and messages are probably never deleted, just marked so they are not published on the internet. Just because there is no like button in locked threads or on deleted posts does not mean you can execute the like function on that message id, the scripts run through all message id's in sequence which is why locked and deleted posts also get likes.

Some like it , others like me who dislike it also dislike when they get so much likes it starts to seem as if they give themselves likes as such liking what they dislike.

I think you can still get likes on posts in locked threads, but deleted ones? How is that possible... I guess the server still has a record of the post somewhere in the database and apparently whatever script is used is able to get the forums to assign the post a like even though no one can see the post.

I got some on almost 2 year old threads, so apparently so.

How would getting likes be irritating in any way? Im curious...

Unless you turn off like notificatons, it shoves your legitimate response notifications off the page. ITts a stealth hostile Act.

Personally, I feel that scripts like these are devaluing the worth of each like.

They can like me into oblivion one tap and likes are goneBig smiledon't bother me.Cool

But the rumor is likes will be selling in Jita for 12,500 isk per unit

Really CCP the only thing all people agree on here is isk...if it cost they are tight wads, charge for each like each post and each time they post that day double the fee every time, if it's worth posting it's worth paying for.

Yes, makes me reluctant to Like anyone now, as the assumption will now be that it's the beginning of a flood of them.

But the one I just gave you was legit.

Thank you. I think CCP could introduce a premium likes feature - you can give somebody a premium like for $0.01.

The 'like and get likes' thread already did that.

At least this is based on how much someone has posted to legitimate threads instead of just posting there.

Just so everyone is aware, we know people are using scripts to hand out likes, we're currently discussing what, if anything, should be done about it. We believe it likely it will end after the new year, but if it continues to be a problem we'll see if there's some way to prevent a similar event from occurring in the future if it causes a large amount of distress.

Like I said in my Petiton closing, I wouldn't count on certain EVE players to stop something just because a certain date passes......even if they 'say so'.

I wouldn't consider it distressful. Just extremely annoying for people like me who keep an eye out for that (1) appearing on a tab we leave open somewhere as means to notify us of a new mail, or a topic of interest.

I'd appreciate not having 20 or 30 likes from the same script whenever I glance at it, as that gets in the way of showing me notifications I actually want to receive.

indeed, it's the fact that the "like spam" gets in the way of other, more important, notifications.

could it at least group them together so when you click the dropdown menu thing for alerts it just has a block of "player x liked posts a, b, and c" instead of a new notification for every single like?
