ok .. orcing around :) better ?
Seriously .. why is everybody hating miners ? Mining and escpecily ice-mining is NOT that intriguing that one could stare all the time on the screen and be happy when the next cycle is finished. Ice products are needed but still you have a problem with afk-ice-miners ? Or are you just bullying around ?
Either change the mechanics, which are horrible, or leave the miners do thier job.

Why do miners think they should be able to afk mine in untanked max yeild ships in perfect safety?

I think we can see that AFK mining is the wrong way to play the game, it was never intended by the devs as one of the sandbox activities and should be removed poste haste, preferably by banning the perpetrators

Please share with us how the Dev's are going to know if I'm at the key board or not? I don't see why I should be banned for going to make a cup of tea or answer the door or phone or even nipping down to the shops whilst my characters are mining.

AFK mining has always been part of this game and one that I have embraced as it allows me a flexibility of time that no other game (that I have found) offers me. The ability to log on and start mining even though I don't have time to play actively is one of the things that keeps me here.

CCP should implement a function where you need to have a webcam pointed at you at all times. The client will then analyze the picture provided by the webcam to ensure that you're at the computer and looking at Eve.

If you so much as get off the chair to take a leak or get some more bacon, your account will be instantly banned. You also won't want to take too long in blinking.
The whole AFK-culture needs to be driven out of Eve, not just the AFK-miners:
- Tab away from your gatecamp. Banned.
- Engage your autopilot through hi-sec (implying an intention to be AFK, that will suffice). Banned.
- Get a cold beer tonight while on your weekly lowsec or null sec roam. Guess what. Yah, banned.

Sounds pretty sweet to me, let's get this ball rollin'.

EDIT: While we're waiting for CCP to roll the new feature out, let's brainstorm on who's left to hate on in this game, so we can still come home from our crap jobs, log on and feel superior to somebody, anybody!

since I hope this was irony .. +1 Big smile

And where would CCP and EVE be without AFK miners ? Fewer minerals --> higher prices for everything (minerals are the basis of almost everything <- just for the usual brain-amputated) --> much whining from pvpler because they cannot afford pvp /losing ships anymore --> less accounts (I don't see how you pvp with multible accounts but show me I'm ready to learn) --> less money for CCP --> less servers/personal --> EVE is dead.
Sorry dudes .. but you are fu your own knee What?

The solution is quite simple ... all Non-AFK-Miners should stop mining for just one week. Prices will either stay the same .. then we know all miners are afk-miners OR the prices will go through the sky .. then those %$/&%ยง gankers and so holy shithead-new-fu-order idiots will have to pay the price for new ship which will skyrock also.
For me .. I just stop mining .. and stop playing .. this is not my style of game and I definitly won't support some crapheads and bow my head by playing their style.
Might be that I come back when CCP solved the problem with PVE vs PVP.

Your understanding of this game is seriously lacking.

Nope .. since this game has the serious problem of those players who just want to have some fun with friends and to something that is NOT stressious lets say something like mining or missioning or what ever .. but then come those who [voice beavice and butthead]'have unterstood the game'[voice off] and press THEIR style of game on me. In all MMOs there is part PVP and part PVE. Some solved it well, others not so well .. and guess what .. I think EVE is NOT the crown of MMO evolution Shocked How that ?
If some idiots can just fly into newbie territory and harrass noobs without getting any kind of harrassment back. Well then I call it unbalanced, in other games you will get banned for such behavior. If every pyscho and siciopath can do as he wants .. well then this is def. not my game. I take the consequences and leave. If now the bashing of miners continues I hope more people will leave.
I think EVE has some great potential but nobody tries to make something out of it. Too bad. I will try out other upcoming games like star citizen and elite ... maybe they solved the gap between PVE and PVP. In EVE it's NOT solved.

It's a multiplayer sandbox. You're able to play however you want, but people are allowed to disrupt your activities. To put it in terms that you will understand; You don't like EVE the way it is, you want it to be like every other cookie-cutter MMO which is not what's best for the game.

If you don't want to play EVE then don't, but don't encourage other people to leave just because you don't like it.

I may not have free speech?! I encourage people to leave because I lay down the reasons I think EVE has to work on ?
I like EVE and the idea behind that but I think that there is a huge gap in what some people see as THEIR EVE. MY Eve is unbalanced in that way that null/low/high sec are unbalanced. I hope you can concure. MY Eve is unbalanced because in HIGH sec everybody can harrass me without fear of retribution (the bounty system is a joke ... and a stale one). In MY Eve afk-mining (esp. ice) is ok, because the mining mechanism is just lame as tar.
But what I would change (and there is the difference between me and somebody who just leaves without telling why):

    1. buff null sec so there is a reason to move there BEYOND pvp
    2. make player and npc stations more equal .. in the way that you have queues similar to science/production for refining .. this might actually solve more problems then just the afk mining or people-free null sec systems. Maybe the queues should be rentable only with given standing or higher standing would get higher prio, or your standing defines the max. Queues you can have at a time ... something like that (see below)
    3. leave high sec a sector of HIGH security .. there is a reason that CONCORD is there .. it's called business! Someone disrupts business .. he should feel the wrath of CONCORD and the CORPS behind .. esp. in newbie systems
    4. make taxes in highsec independant from (corp-)standing (like financing CONCORD through this ... he he which would be some kind of player content)
    5. SecStatus should be open .. from +Max(int) to -Max(int) .. if you go under given limit gates close for you .. but you can find another route through other systems with other npc-corps

just my two cents ... but we will see .. maybe in the future Smile

To make what my esteemed Goon companion said simpler, here it is:

You are free to mine asteroids.

You are free to mine asteroids drunk.

You are free to mine asteroids drunk, naked and asleep.

You are even free to mine asteroids AFK, for however long you wish to.

I am free to come along and touch your shiny boat, and maybe even give it Hot Blaster Love.

This is sometimes called Ganking; others call it Just Business or Hello, Sailor.

You are free to try and stop me.

It's hard to stop me when you are AFK.

Best not be AFK when I show up, huh?

It already is a sector of high security. Anyone that illegaly agresses you will feel the wrath of Concord. For everything else, you need to understand the game mechanics so you can take measures to avoid it in the future or retaliate. This might sound familiar, but people like you choose to be victims through ignorance of how the game works.
