Four years ago, the Empress made a historic announcement, announcing the approach of the End of the Age of Slavery.

So it is thus, time to reflect upon, and think about it, and consider the righteous course of action for the future.

Be a Space Nun, it is fun. \o/

May the wretched Sarum suffer a bloody end.

It was a brilliant strategic move.

Currently the Republic can go throwing their weight around because they know that when push comes to shove the Federation will come pull their butts out of the of the fire.

Why does the Federation support the Republic? Because the Federation believes in freedom. Because the Amarr had slaves, that made the Federation say "Oh you are bad people, you have slaves, so we must support your enemies to express our disdain for your way of life!"

And so the Republic said "Ha ha, look at my pet giant! I can poke you with this stick all I want and you can't do anything about it nya nya!"

Then our Great Empress frees the slaves.

"Now what were you saying earlier?"

Grin.

So now what does the Federation say, eh? The end of slavery means the end of their whole reason for jumping in bed with the Republic. It's also the end of the Republic's "justifications" for constantly trying to start conflicts with the Amarr.

Will the Republic stop? No, of course not. Slavery was never their reason for conflict, only their excuse. Their junta can't survive without constant warfare and they know it. Take away their reasons and they'll just invent new ones. They have no choice. Without an eternal war they might have to actually become a Republic and not just call themselves one.

And what of the Federation? The Amarr don't threaten them, we're freeing our slaves, so what excuses will they make up to stay allied with the Republic now? Ah but will their people actually buy into those excuses? That's the catch: As an educated democracy, it's going to be a lot harder for them to trick their own people into going along with a pointless conflict. They claimed their beef was with the Amarr was because of slavery and now they get to own to up to that claim by ending their alliance with the Republic now that slavery is fading from the Empire.

Which they won't, of course. They'll try to make up new reasons but unlike the Republic, the citizens of the Federation just aren't going to roll over & buy it. If their government tries to bait & switch on them then they'll find themselves voted out of office. Their citizens aren't stupid, after all.

And once they get voted out of office and more amicable leaders take their place, then we can turn our attention to getting them to bury the hatchet with the State (no easy feat, mind you). But in the meantime the Republic will be without their pet giant protecting them. They won't be able to keep jabbing at us without fear of reprisal. So what happens then?

Simple: We ignore them. Like I said, the Republic can't live without conflict, so if they find themselves in a position where they can't fight the Amarr then they'll do what they've always done, historically speaking - start fighting each other. And we'll let them. No need to invade, there's no point. Take away an external enemy to focus their bloodlust on and they'll be right back to banging rocks together in under a century.

And then? Once they've utterly wrecked & destroyed themselves? Is that when we invade and finish them off?

Nope!

Poetic justice. We'll just leave them just like they are, just like they always wanted to be. Wandering the wastelands of their own making. We will build our cities in the stars, move forward our technology, and we three shall continue to advance as we always have. The Gallente will carry the banner of Beauty, the Caldari the banner of Efficiency, and the Amarr the banner of Faith. The Republic, or rather the ruins of it, will simply be left behind to fade into the dustbin of history.

But one good thing will have come of it: Of the Matari people there will still be a story. A story of how many of them followed in the footsteps of the Ni-Kunni, the Khanid, the Ealur and the Udorians. A path that led away from self-destruction and into the Glory of God and the future of humanity. It is a story that begins, humbly enough, with a slave.

A heart-warming sentiment, Mr Areth -but were she gone, a less 'liberal', more vicious royal bastard might emerge to take her place.

That would depend entirely on the manner of her removal.

Hah. End of the Age of Slavery. The twists and turns the fools of the Empire make daily in an effort to convince themselves they're righteous never fails to amuse me. Or maybe the false empress really does have you twisted around her pathetic little finger enough that you believe it was done for any reason except to score brownie points with the other empires and those religious types in the Empire with their heads so far up their asses that they actually believe they keep slaves for any reason other than to exploit them.

It's amazing such a pathetic society as the Empire managed to spawn a child as glorious as the Blood Raiders, but then again you need an inferior parent to evolve from in the first place.

But as with everything in evolution, some paths are just a wrong useless turn. Same goes for the Blood Raiders, just another useless mutation to be forgotten and left behind in time. Nothing more, just a wrong prototype.

It must have been so embarrassing for you when your "inferior" parent kicked you out of the Bleaks.
