API keys are a normal part of joining a corp... CCP wouldn't put something that gives away your credit card info or anything on their support page.

They'll be able to see how much you have in your wallet (but not transaction details), your character info (including what skills you're currently training), and any alts on that account. They won't be able to change anything, and you can always log into the API page and change or disable it, which will cut off their access. You can also view access logs via the API page.

A lot of corps ask for API access to protect themselves against spies, thieves, and saboteurs. You should expect to see a few of the officers checking your API, then access should taper off once you become a more trusted member.

Some people give out their APi publicly, on sites such as eveboard.com, and a few corps can integrate the API system with their website and voice comms, so that only corp-members have access (automatically).

That's actually a pretty lenient key for a corp. Most have your transaction history in the API so they can see if you have dodgy friends or are a spai alt etc. etc.

Yah, its all safe, don't worry.

Chris,

The API Key will only allow them access to data as long as the key you provided them is active. They can not do anything but see whatever it is you allow them to see, and viewing is the limit. It is safe, and you can always delete the API Key when you feel like it. Hope this helps :)

This.

That predefine link is something that you will see a lot more when looking for corps.

Nothing unusual about what they ask in the API.

Note that API keys aren't just used for corp recruitment, sometimes it is highly useful for apps such as Evemon, EveHQ, or private corp forums and teamspeak which can be configured to prevent people who aren't in corp or alliance from joining or seeing sensitive information. It can also allow forums to be pre-configured to give access to sections to new members just via api meaning moderators don't have to do a bunch of extra work.

It has more benefit to part with a (limited) key then there are strings attached. As a CEO and FC I mainly use API keys to see what skills people have and in what ships they would be most effective. It's also a great help to pass around your Character Sheet so you can get some skill advice from your corp. Our forum uses API keys to fetch the right picture, so it looks like people's avatar actually making the post, just like on Eve Gate. No-one can manipulate your character or possesions with an API key, you can only read information from CCP's servers with it. As others have pointed out you can delete your API keys if you switch corporations, or simply don't want people or apps to use it anymore.
