i havent seen many posts about dust 514 and how it'll change eve's PI, so i have a question or two about how it'll change eve. if there's a thread about these questions already, can you please post a link for me.

-with the new player owned customs offices, will those be attacked by dust players?
-will there be more command center stats/skills? (like a 5% bonus to cc hp per level?)
-how will people get notices about their PI being under attack, if at all?

It might help if they released it for PC , but alas, seems that the soul-selling crap faustian deal they made with SONY forbids them, at least for a while. All in all, it was either selling their soul for pineapples with sony or going into the trenches and be mustard gassed to death with M$.

So I wont ... arghhh I wont write anything else, all of it will boil down to speculations regarding outcomes and people taking sides and some trolls poking their faces here ... whats the point? We need to wait for it to be released and see the REAL impact, right now all we do is wait.

And that wait kills me and thrills me.

being left in the dark about something so game changing really kills and chills more, the thrills are kinda absent after incarna's cq and my graphics card nearly dying. :/

as long as my graphics arent affected, i can deal with another bad addition (if it will be one)

It might bankrupt CCP, just like the CCCP.

No official information about exactly how dust will integrate. My suspicion is that players will be so pissed off about it, that CCP's not gonna say anything until it's too late.

Ultimately dust = a griefing tool that non EVE players can use to harass EVE players. Dusters =/= eve players. Never will.

Well frankly I hope Dust does very well because in case you have not noticed, CCP is not so well off financially right now and another failed investment may mean the end of EVE for all of us. I know a lot of you put drama before EVE but for once you might just hope it all works out.

I would not expect many new subscribers for awhile either as the upcoming features are not of the sort to draw in completely new players. Also we have Skyrim, SWTOR, and G2 around the corner. Other than the folks here in EVE already, I doubt EVE will be on anyone else's radar for awhile.

I doubt CCP can take another solid kick to the privates.

making dust 514 players suffer from eve actions might give them a nutcup, so far it seems like they can destroy our stuff without them being effected.

Define 'affected'. From what I understand Dust characters have clones and buy their equipment and vehicles from money they must earn, just like EVE players do and can lose them just the same. Also Dust characters do not just walk to these planets. Eve corps take them or enable it.

ccp should just open dust514 official forums. to many crying bitter vets trolling.

eve players can can hire DUST players to help defend them and also attack POCOs . theres a video showing DUST players shooting ships from the planet.

this is only speculation but i think its the reason why ccp didnt add guns on the new POCOs.

as for the rest... well ccp doesnt seem to really let much info out... disappointing.

Hopefully it fails soon enough that it won't change Eve at all.

That's the attitude. Soon enough you'll be playing space barbie or fantasy barbie because EVE will be no more. And from what I hear the tanks in WoT don't spin.

One video that shows the fitting of a Dust vehicle like we do with EVE ships as well as the costs:

If it's good we can look forward to an invasion of mindless, fast-twitch, ADHD gaymers who like to talk about your mom's vagina and post videos on YouTube wiping their asses with your feeble FPS skills.

There will be buckets of QQ to harvest.

And it will be glorious

But you'll also be buying items for real money, through micro-transactions - because DUST will not charge a subscription fee, but CCP needs a steady source of income from the game because "we need to run servers and so on", says Sveinsson.
well, there goes me ever getting this game!
I'm gonna go by skunk's approach and see how long this dies in a miserable fire. and see how much rage there is on the forums of course.

That Dust video has as much to do with the actual game as movie trailers have to do with movies, and TV ads have to do with the product they are selling. Sure it's the same general idea, but last I checked, Mountain Dew will not make you better at sports.

The article is so old that CCP still had no idea at the time how the two games would interact. They were mostly just making it up on the spot. That article will have as much to do with the actual game as a kindergartener's drawings of an ice cream factor have to do with the dairy industry.

All that is confirmed true about Dust is that it will "somehow" interact with EVE, "somehow" through planets. Pretty much anything beyond that is speculation.

It's another case of CCP trying to do something that's "cool" before figuring out the particulars. They never really came up with an actual plan for Incarna gameplay beyond walking around a room and I bet they still don't have a concrete idea of how Dust players will interact with Eve players.

New article on Dust and Eve, and also more insight on why the PS3 platform was chosen:

Quote:
“When we showed the early code to Sony, they immediately gravitated towards this notion of bringing an MMO ecosystem onto the PS3. The partnership that we built with them allows us to take better advantage of the PlayStation Network, which is arguably a more open platform,” he says.

You should read that above article.

Short answer on how DUST & EVE will interact? Sandbox. There're going to provide the framework and it'll be up to the thumbers and us jaded elitist EVE jocks to hash it out.

Quote:
“Both Dust and Eve share the same back-end. It’s not two separate world servers, these are both the same,” says Gunnarsson.

“A Dust 514 client is just a different instance of the same clients running on Eve across PCs right now. That’s an incredibly powerful notion. You have the same game space, the same gameworld co-ordinates.

“When you’re fighting in Dust, that’s a real planet in Eve – that’s a real planet that people on PC are trying to fight for the control of. And PC users can support them or thwart them on the ground.”

Quote:
“We won’t pretend we’ll know what will happen as we begin connecting the two games and allowing information to flow between both. That will iterate over time. But the objective is to make Dust 514 be significant to the world of Eve and vice-versa. So Dust players can call in air support or munitions from Eve players.

Short answer, they ain't sure yet, but it'll be interesting to find out.
