Amarr Tier 3 BC

Tbh I'm a little worried about the Tier 3 Amarrian BC.

The fact that it uses large guns brings in the issue of cap with the Amarr BC. To be a BC it would have to have a smaller capacitor than Amarrian BS's and yet even the Amarrian BS's have slight issues with their laser and cap usage.

Either the bonus to the Tier 3 BC would be a huge reduction in cap usage of large lasers, which would probably replace any damage bonus, which would lower the dps to maybe around harbinger level.
Or they would have huge capacitors to run the large guns. This would make the Amarrian tier 3 BC capable of fielding a huge active tank and so would be too OP.

I'm wondering what you guys think the balances will be regarding the Amarrian Tier 3 BC.

I'm expecting a role-bonus style reduction in powergrid and capacitor consumption of large turrets. I'm pretty sure we won't be left out in the cold here.

With any luck, at least one of the bonuses will be a 5% per level increase to large energy turrets. The other will probably be capacitor reduction, but I'm kinda hoping for optimal range. Ehh, we can dream.

Alternatively the Amarr tier 3 BC is a supersized Arby. P

They clearly aren't going to make the amarr ship have 3 seconds of firing time. You have to be pretty stupid to think that.

They are absolutely going to get a fitting and cap use role bonus. Chances are that you'll still need a cap booster to get more than say 5mins of firing with no mwd, but thats the same for the harbi. There's a whole lot more issues coming up with these ships than their cap use. The cap use is going to be fine.

The tracking and fitting and potential for tachyon snipers of death on the other hand is a real worry. One way or another these guys are likely to either be terrible or SO powerful...

I have to agree with that thought. I don't view cap as something that will be problematic nor will fittings. My bigger concern is CCP doing something stupid like giving it no damage bonus and thus making it absolutely pathetic or not understanding how players actually fit ships and us ending up with a 2000 dps nano cane or something. If they have thought this through, we will end up with 4 different skins for a nano cane that does 1300 dps roughly without any added tank/speed/agility. But I very much doubt that's the case.

1300 dps nanocane? Seriously?Lol

There's also fitting issues for all races. The artwork shows 4 guns firing, so 4 guns with 100% dmg bonus would be one of the more sensible ways to do it. In other words, rejoice suicide gankers and alpha blobbers.Cool

Let's hope CCP knows what they're doing and give it something like 50% rop bonus instead of 100% dmg, with no additional dps bonus.

Actually I should have specified less tank. I said equal and that wasn't really my intent. They will almost certainly be suicide gank favorites regardless of what happens.

It's not as if we don't already have a shipclass using oversized weapons in the game.

A range-bonused large turret BC would be fairly OP.

Could be they are factoring this new ship class into a hitherto undisclosed element of the supercap nerfage? SCaps v swarms of these things......mmmmmmm

No expert but does anybody think this may be the case??

Just saw someone mention having a T3 BC as a suicide ganker for alpha striking...you have any idea how silly it would be to do that in a T3 modular ship? Loosing an entire level of a random sub system would hardly be worth it for a simply sui-gank (assuming they are treated like current T3 ships with a loss of the ship = loss in random sub system skill level). Not to mention the cost of the ship, but I must say it would make for some VERY amusing youtube vids to see just what can be alpha'd.

My 2 cents is that tier 3 BC's could have marauder style bonuses. Give it 5 highs, 3 gun slots, and a 40% bonus to damage per lvl of BC. How would 3 large lasers compare to a full rack of medium lasers as far as cap usage?
