How much bounty is ideal?

I was wondering how much bounty would be ideal to get someone killed?

If that someone is in high sec, what sort of bounty is likely to get him (ship) killed?

If that someone is in low?

Null?

Note: I admit to not understanding the system at all. I also tried a search on this which was unfruitful. Apologies, if this question is stupid or has been asked n times.

Any colour you like.

The new bounty system, as I understand it, scales to the value of the ship the capsuleer is flying in. Past a certain point more bounty doesn't do anything.

Bounties are public, and any bounty in the game can be claimed by anyone. Claiming a bounty is based on who has the Final Blow. If you’re in a fleet and get bounty, the bounty is shared between the fleet members. The bounty payout is roughly 20% of the value of all destroyed objects (ships, modules, cargo, implants).

Example: If you have a 150 million bounty on you and the loss value of the kill report is 100 million, then 20 million will be paid out, leaving your remaining bounty at 130 million. If the bounty pool had been 15 million instead, then the entire 15 million would have been paid out on the kill.

Note: If you’re fighting a character that has bounty on him and he self-destructs or is killed by CONCORD, you still get the bounty. The bounty then goes to the player with the highest damage contribution.

Anything more than 5 or 6 is excessive. I just end up getting shredded coconut caught in my teeth...

That's a good question, though there is an easy answer: There is no price too high, if the character/player in question is worth it... You want them to die that badly and have a tough time coming back. I know that doesn't answer your question... If it's high-sec, which could be more difficult if the character is in an NPC corp, Either it will be with a war-dec, or a suicide gank. If suicide gank it will require multiple ships/players. Of course this is very dependent on what the character's profession is: mission runner? Trader? Miner? High-sec wars? Even though it would be more difficult to gank a mission runner, or someone who plays High-sec wars, you would rather it be something along this, because odds are they will have an expensive ship/fitting/pod. If the character is in a player corp, this becomes way more easier as the bounty-hunters can war-dec the player corp... Reducing the cost of ships/time/effort... although the war-dec itself might be expensive depending on the size of the player corp the target is in.

What I'm getting at is the cost the bounty-hunters will have to pay in order to get the kill and what the target's ship/fitting/pod is.. is it worth it? To attempt to answer your question anything below 1b no one's going to look at, or go out of their way; unless it's a personal vendetta, or the target just happens to be in the wrong (right) place at the wrong (right) time. Someone else was talking about 5 or 6 being excessive. I'm assuming they were referring in terms of billions, I wouldn't go that high unless you had a lot of money to burn. I would start at a minimum of 2-3b.

If it's low-sec, null... eventually the player's character is going to die... The only thing is, do you want to get a notification about it? You could argue that a low-sec/null-sec player with a 2-3b bounty will get chased/tracked, but ...that's going to happened regardless of bounty.

Just my ideas on how I would think about it.

Abandon all hope ye who x up in fleet

Nope, he was talking about Bounty bars - a hideous confection of coconut covered with chocolate. The only way they could sell them is by the use of copious amounts of advertising using scantily clad females feigning orgasm as they eat the bar Lol

I don't normally eat Bounty Bars, but after reading your post I suddenly want one...
