Hello all

I am new to the game and enjoying PVE, I have been trying to mine and wash up, Hoover etc. I do not seem to be able to multi task I can see when the pirates attack but I keep dying, my drones do not seem to be able to kill them before my amour gives out.

Any hint would be gratefully received and don't wash up and Hoover is not an option my wife would kill me lol.

Also, by pirates do you mean NPC 'rats or actual PC pirates? In Eve we differentiate the two by shortening the NPCs down to 'rats.

I have read other posts and they recommend drone interface going to train that and see if that helps.

... how are you dying to rats? honestly?
even with 2x t1 drones with no drone support skills my alt's venture has no problems what so ever dealing with rat spawns in 0.7 security space.
sure, sometimes it dips in to armour but it never ever got popped. now it's in a retriever with 5x light drones and it's basically unkillable.

He could be trying in low sec or wormhole space. He appears to have joined a corp with a CEO that at least pretends to PVP and he has a -0.1 sec status, so he's shot at least one person.

OP, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that either you aren't asking your corp, or your corp isn't giving you enough help in getting started. In either case, you shouldn't be dying to rats while mining if you are doing it anywhere near correctly. Find someone in game to help you out.

in that case he shouldn't be half afk while trying to mine in such areas of space.

Either you get more tanky barge which can take the pounding, or you go mine to the really highsec belts where the rats cant kill you. People before have mentioned that mining at lower security ratings is not healthy if you want to do it totally afk.
