Why do so many people seem to think they should be immune to ship loss?

I would like to buy a Tempest with T2 guns and various other modules so that I can participate in the skirmish fleets my alliance regularly undertakes. What are my options to avoid market PvP?

Link the article that says PvP will now be a switchable action.

I don’t think anyone minds losing a ship from time to time, it’s part of the game and you usually come away with some insight that you didn’t have before.

I think what people are upset about is suicide ganking. Yes if you fly a tasty ship or have some yummy cargo you should be on the lookout; if you don’t and you get blown up then those are the consequences for those actions – nowhere in EVE is safe.

As it stands the consequences are grossly one sided towards the victim.

Sure perpetrator loses equipment (if they don’t go back to scoop them up), the small difference between insurance and payout, and some security status. But this is minuscule compared to the cost of the incurred by victim.

Sure this is all scripted into the game mechanics, but as it stands it’s currently being abused by griefers, and I can understand the outrage from the miners (I'm assuming this is who you're targeting towards?), especially with the proposal of new combat ships, with nothing new to beef up their weak ships.

The best solution that I’ve seen on these boards is to not reward insurance payouts to a player whom was killed by concord. It makes sense from the perspective that no company in the real world would award a payout to someone who lit their house on fire or purposely crashed a car. It would also slant the table a bit so that that the consequences weren’t so one sided.

Will there still be suicide ganking – oh yes. Will the consequences still be slanted towards the victim - oh yes, but not as crazily so. I don’t think suicide ganking should ever be removed from the game because there is definitely a niche of players whom enjoy this kind of gameplay. But there should be consequences for both parties.

If I could remember which CCP dev it was, I'd put the correct source on it, but one of them has said:

CONCORD blowing up your ship, 15 minute GCC, and security status loss isn't a consequence?

The 15 minute GCC is really annoying tbh.

You can insure a T1 ship and get almost full ISK recovery, same cannot be said for those in T2 ships for which the gankers are destroying.

Right, you're going to become the new CEO of CCP. I have a jump bridge I'd like to sell you. Low low price of 15 billion ISK.

A solution almost as practical as staying docked to avoid combat PvP.

The games been around for a little over 8 years now. Do you think that CCP is going to change a core game mechanic because a bunch of new players don't like it?

Personally, I'm tired of hearing all the whining and complaining. If you don't like how the game is made, either make your own version of EVE to compete with, or stop playing and go do something else.

Simple really.

As long as those who are NOT new can have the game mechanics changed for them?

But yeah, I am ALSO "tired of hearing all the whining and complaining" because new players are getting beaten up by "8 year old vets" who in one minute are unsubbing and complaining about game mechanics at the same time as complaining about noobs who want to STAY but want changes to game mechanics to make it possible.

It's all hypocritical BS.

Just keep in mind while all the "bittervets" (read spoiled brats) yell "unsub" everytime they get bored, CCP MAY have to change the game just to give noobs a chance to keep the game going.

PS: If YOU are "tired of hearing all the whining and complaining" you also have the option to unsub and go play something else. I heard Pacman is good.

far more satisfying!

/Figures out why people are complaining about establishments.

There might be a group of constantly War Dec'd who have forgotten that the rest of EVE exists and thinks it is a Ship Viewer / Market Simulator. Then when they got the Avatar it was the only thing they understood in the Patch Notes for years. Now they think that because Establishments are gone CCP has stopped Expanding the Game.

It explains everything.

As much as I dislike suicide ganking (it's cowardly), you can actually fly a fully insured Covetor.

Won't be as efficient of course but that is quickly offset against losing 200 million on a Hulk.
