I enjoy games that reward long term, multi-year planning and associated patience.

System Security Status Level (High, Low, Null) has absolutely nothing to do with whether someone starts playing EVE or not.

I rarely say this, but tying this into what makes a person be interested in EVE is an extremely irelevant, dumb question.

I was told EVE had big booty white girls...
I was promised big booty white girls...

2 months...and I have yet to see ANY big booty white chicks playing this game...

...do they magically appear at Fanfest??? I don't know if Icelandic women are known for junk in tha trunk.

I don't like being lied to...

I like'em Blonde or Ginger, slim waist, under 5'5 and loaded in the rear.

I better see some or I'm reporting CCP.

Reasons I joined:
1.I'm interested in all kinds of sci-fi.
2.Saw lots of trailers on the net while browsing sci-fi stuff over a long period of time, each time increasing my interest.
3.Saw a documentation bout MMOs in which eve was praised for its sandbox, thats when I decided to finally check it out.

Reasons I stayed and will for prolly years to come:
1. First and only game I found that rightfully claims to be a sandbox game and I was looking/waiting for years.
2. The complexity of economy, politics, combat and the skillsystem.
3. The enormeous amount of different things that can be done.
4. The tolerance of evil deeds scams/suiciding/thievery as part of the sandbox (well for the most part).
5. The ability to basically play for free after a minimal initial investment(time or money).
6. The backstory, I'm still learning new things every day.
7. The community, especially Devs & Eve Radio.
8. Continuous improvement of the game and the Dev blogs keeping us updated not just about game mechanics but also about interesting new tech and behind the scene data and statistics.

What I think this game needs more of to attract more people:
1. Even more sandboxyness.
2. Mantaining the complexity while making the game mechanics easier to understand (I know thats quite hard to achieve. ex. ingame video tutorials showing and explaining stuff whenever you want. May even let the playerbase make these for rewards, no need to drain many ressources from other projects)
3. Better newbie protection in form of hints and warnings(I see way to many newbies carring plex around in shuttles or rookie ships beeing shot down; the safety system is a very good step in the right direction but its not enough to safe ppl from their own stupidity)

SpaceShips

Nothing can be more epic than spaceships

The word epic in fact does mean spaceships

Anything mildly related to spaceships, instantly becomes epic

When you add spaceships into your spaghetti, it becomes 300% more epic.

Spaceships are so epic that the tree is green, and the ball was bouncing.

And of course the freedom of sandbox, and how much you can affect in it (but that's more of why I play now)

My story is a bit odd.

I thought I'd give EVE a shot when I learned that it's made in Iceland.

Wai so ??

I'm a big fan of Bjork (Icelandic singer) lol. Told you it's gonna be odd >.>

Why did you start playing EVE?

I used to play a PvP MMO space game called DarkSpace and eventually got tired of the constant PvP / blowing up space ships action. I wanted to have other options available besides just doing PvP action in a space setting. Eve Online has those options, such as exploration, invention and production.

Open endness and non linear gameplay. Also, I enjoy the cut and thrust of the harsh environment. Played a few MMO's in my time and got sick of the WoW styled games constantly being thrown out left, right and center.

Also, the devs are often seen in the forums as well as in rookie chat (which i'm still a part of Cool) and I love that.

Been there done that.

Nobody can believe a Goon is seriously interested in an answer to this particular question, considering their desire to drive some actual players away from the game.

Obvious shadowplay is obvious.

Okay take the conspiracy posts to that thread this thread is for the survey. I'll be happy to address that stuff to you in the other thread.

I've played almost every game of spaceships that have come in the last 20 years. Then saw some videos and then EVE Ambulation video and thought it was like a dream come true.

I admit I was disappointed discovering that the avatars were a demo and not something that exists in the game, and well, here I am, I still hope that EVE be the science fiction game where besides being a ship I be able to be a person and do things like people.

In a way, I always wanted to play Babylon 5 online... Lol

You obviusly so not know what tears are. Bah. You just are not worth my time.

Unsubbing from Thread as it's just usual Goon junk.

I'm EXACTLY the same! I started when I saw the Ambulation demo and thought I'd start gaining skills early so I was ready when WiS became reality. Unfortunately, the dream has faded almost completely away and I only pop into EVE an occasional month at a time.

Whichever game ends up with Spaceship *and* Avatar gameplay - both in meaningful ways - will have my money forever. I'll cancel everything else. Until then, I'm bouncing around from game to game.
