Hi all,

So I bought this character yesterday looking to upgrade from a BS but I didn't check it out properly...it has CapV but no cap ships trained...I can only choose from Caldari and Gallente

Dreadnoughts seem the easiest as I don't need to spend the extra 20 days on Drone Interfacing V to fly fighters....However, In terms of resale value, which is the better Capital to train? All advice is appreciated.

Carrier because of versatility.

Well, that character you bought is designed as a Titan pilot, but Carriers are the best overall Cap ships to have if you don't have a specific need in mind.

Congrats, you bought a character without understanding how the game works. Now you will die horribly and repeatedly in very embarrassing ways. Have fun! Oh, and the answer is amarr or gallente.

Carrier first, then dread if the winter expansion actually makes them useful again.

No! I've played for years and understand the game fine...I've just never paid any attention to anything over BS and I failed to check the skillsheet properly. Amar? Gallente? Please! Lol

No seriously, Dreadnaught and carrier wise, Amarr and Gallente have the best capital ships. Minmatar are just bad right now, and faildari use missiles and the chimera has horrible horrible capacitor issues. So from your selection, go with a gallente carrier, you will never regret it.

Interestingly enough, all carriers have the same base capacitor regeneration. The only differences you observe arise from slot configuration (CPRs are more efficient than CRs) and module efficiency (shield tankers get better throughput but worse capacitor efficiency).

In terms of sepping into the Capital field for the first time, the Thanatos would be the best choice for you. Carriers are the cheapest capital ships you can get and the most versatile, easily more versatile than a SC, dreads, Titans or freighters.

The Thanatos is great for PVE with it's fighter damage bonus, larger drone bay (and more generically for carriers) it has a great tank and logistical ability.

Big tank? Check.
Excellent ISk maker? Check.
Top logistical ability? Check.
Big jump range and able to carry a lot of different things? Check.

If your char has any drone skills, a Thanatos is your best starting place.
