Nooby missions question

So, I've just got on to level 4 security missions, and I've been using the guides to make sure I know what rats trigger new spawns etc, but my question is this, how do I know which version of the mission I'm up against? Some of the mission info that agents give doesn't tell me whether it's guristas, sanshas, drones etc that will be in the mission, meaning I'm warping in, then out again to go fit the right tank, which is obviously annoying. I'm missioning in amarr space (kor-azor) but it seems that I'm up against em/therm rats a dissapointingly small minority of the time.

Cheers for any help in advance

www.eve-survival.org

can be opened in ingame browser

offhand most mission offers do tell you what faction your going up against .. roughly in the middle of the offer (will be a faction ICON next to location information)

eg Guruistas Faction --> Skull Bunny

Thanks, I've been strongly considering omni tanking an abaddon, but it seems to be frowned upon.

<- caldari. the only time I'll touch my resists is if the mission description tells me I'll be against explosive damage types. my explosive resists are usually low

After years of missions against everything in every high sec Empire, I tend to know the damage types of the 'rats by heart ... not so hard really, the only tricky ones are Mercenaries that do a lot of Thermal, a bit of Kinetic and a bit of Explosive ...

Oh, and watch out for the Angels, they like to spice things up a bit by adding heavy EM in some missions, on top of their usual Explosive + Kinetic damage ...

But all in all, I find that having 4 hardeners and switching them according to the mission is not such a big hassle, and the resistances are better thus focused, meaning less damage taken, so I almost never need my shield booster ... but I still keep an omni-tank fitting handy in case of Angel Extravaganza.

Slightly different story with my armor tanked ships, because EANMs are sooo good with maxed Compensation skills, and I'm still working on Armor Resistance Phasing (reactivated three weeks ago after a two-year forced hiatus), but even there I find that the right resistances make life easier, allowing me to fit more "gank" on my ships.

Now, I have to rethink my poor old Dominix, but that's another thing entirely ...

When there's no icon but a circle, it's either drones or mercenary. Omni for both, skew towards em and heat.

Use eve survival for every mission, fit the right resists and you should be fine. your armor tanked so EM is decent for missions that do a little EM damage.

i have an abaddon that is cap stable but not very good tracking due to all my mids going to cap, every try an apoc or navy apoc?
