It's not the last day, i just bought a plex so the world has at least 29 .9 more days.

Seems everyone is forgetting the main reason why the Mayan calender ended.

Mainly due to Cortez and the Spanish Conquistadors searching for the fabled 'Fountain of Youth' and 'City Of Gold'. Due to their lust for gold (and the beautiful Mayan virgin female sacrifices), they enslaved the Mayan culture, killed all leaders who would oppose Spanish Rule and forced the Mayan's to mine gold, not to mention also killing a lot of them from exposure to European viruses. This basically reduced their population and restricted the Mayan's from performing their rituals (calender writing and sacrificing beautiful Mayan virgin females). After a while a new religion - Christianity - was basically forced upon them and the bloodline was assimilated in with the Spanish (now a different type of sacrifice for the beautiful Mayan virgin females), thus eventually ending the existence of their culture.

Hey, it's as good a theory as any other one.

Definitely a lot better explanation than the Doomsday Prophesy.
