Out of curiosity, let's say hypothetically you were caught and fired for this transaction. How would you explain this in a interview with potential future employers?

I'd tell them I was in Goonswarm and I ganked my boss.
He obviously got upset about this and canned me.

The humor approach to attempt to lighten the mood. Risky gamble, think it would work?

I was going to tell you the same thing the other day in the addiction thread. I can't help but be addicted to forums, spending all day reading the inane thoughts of others.

My work computer is too much of a dog to handle one client with all settings to minimum without choking. I can, if need be, log in to change a skill or market order. Even that is questionable at times.

Our Internet connection is a T1 if we're lucky. Sad, considering we are a satcom company, and the station I work at was many many T3 connections to handle all the customer traffic we get. To top it off, all of our computers (several dozen) share the same T1 connection.

I've tried remote connecting to my personal computer through my Droid phone. Works great if I want to update the skill que or market orders.

So, all I'm left with, is lurking the forums.

I spend my days pulling drowning kids of of the pool, noticed there are some very bad parents out there that don't watch their kids... we have this fun whirlpool thing at our pool and this little 2 year old sees it and starts paddling in her weird floaty harness over to it (took her long enough that I had time to walk around the pool and tell her mother that her kid was about to do an impersonation of a cat in a washing machine) and who would've thought an 8mph current would overpower a kid that just learned how to waddle around...

so I spent the rest of the day with a wet uniform Evil

No time to play Eve at work plus I think the computer in the office is a Pentium 2 Shocked

The number of people I have to listen to actually still dealing with WINDOWS 98 at work is astonishing. Does not bode well for American businesses. But then, nothing is wrong there at all, is it ??

I'm just as surprised to hear that.

We've upgraded all our work computers to Window 7 64-bit. Let's just say it wasn't one of the best things this company did.

An IT "professional" installed Win 7 64-bit on a substandard laptop and made an image from that to be installed on all company computers in the US. Let's just say he probably should of read "Image Making for Dummies." The first image he made somehow didn't recognize more then one processor on a chip. Now the image sees all processors, but doesn't allow them to run about 50% of clock speed.

To round it all off, the amount of totally useless software I am forced to have on my computer is staggering. I honestly believe my company does not want me to be productive and do the job they promoted me to. So I now spend more time in my shop doing what I used to do.

Surrender is still your slightly less painful option.

I fill my work hours with elite forum PvP, then go home to some nice quiet ship PvP.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

I am surprised at the amount of business that waste money because they THINK they need something new. There are lots of things that don't need the latest and greatest and therefore are a waste of money causing the business to be less profitable. Again this is all a case by case basis but a mass generalization such as that means nothing.

I guess you've never heard of expenses then? You can write a portion of these things off you know. Smile

edit: ..although, don't ask me how you'd go about claiming OS software as an expense, even if it is a reasonable one: Enhanced security, better data protection, more efficient workflow, software compatibility, etc...

Me, I could use my iPhone I suppose, but I really don't see the point as I can barely browse the forums with it. Seems to work well elsewhere I suppose, but for some reason the forums here lag it badly enough that I lose interest after reading a post or two. No LTE either as I got it right before that was introduced, which is pretty typical of things I do.

Then, you have to consider I'm usually on a construction site, so any sort of gaming would be slightly impractical anyway. Smile
