A proposed balance to new drone AI

As per the new recent drone aggro AI shinanigans I have thought up a completely new and witty way to go about balancing this. Since this new feature is unlikely to be recalled and drone boats are now obsolete or if not incredibly arduous spending much more time losing, calling back, and reengaging drones my solution is simple.

NPC rats should also be able to switch targets not to drones but to lasers, projectiles, hybrids, etc. and intercept incoming damage. The only way to cycle is to stop firing for the 30 seconds it takes for drones to be recalled. After which the NPC's will being shooting the ship. This is the only logical way to balance the fact that drones were hit by the ugly bat PVE wise....so should everything else. And while we're at it, LETS BOOST NPC EWAR YEHAW!

lol.

better yet, make launchers, turrets targetable !

NPCs will now also identify those as threats and shoot them off of your ship accordingly. Your turrets will now take damage and will eventually blown to pieces every mission unless you constatnly watches over it and apply nano repair pastes (might as well make'em pastes and overheating more popular : O )as necessary. or , stop firing to induce aggro change / bring them offline to prevent all damage. .pretty much the same amount of added work on managing the drones no?

That should make this game more fun and challenging and makes you focus and concentrate more just like this drone ai change did.

Don't know about you, I will adapt and still be able to enjoy this game , possibly more in certain ways..with this new setup, but ...

Ah, the exaggeration of the drone community. I think fondly of my time spent on these forums, taking in all the rage and tears of those of the Gallente persuasion, crying out and gnashing their teeth.

You ask for there to be some kind of drawback to firing missiles, projectiles, Hybrids (Rails in this case) and Lasers? You ask that there be some way that these weapon platforms be made to suffer in some form or fashion, so that others too can feel the deepness of your rage and, in turn, join your cause.

You are in luck, my friend!

As it turns out, weapon destabilizing platforms and anti-missile charges have existed within this game for some time! I remember my days as a Mission runner, screaming at my monitor as I was locked out for the 4th time in a row! I remember swapping to Theology Council Missions, smiling at my Abaddon, then groaning in discontent as my weapons optimal was shortened and their tracking plummeted.

But now, woe! Woe is the drone boat that much watch it's minions! Woe is the drone boat who's sentries, which literally sit next to them, must be called in so they are not melted by the NPC DPS! WOE! If only this AI had existed for some time, some where, so that others could know the pain in seeing their little drones, their little lovelies, shredded by an NPC AI, removing a chunk of DPS from the field! WOE!

Oh, wait, isn't this AI built on the Sleeper AI? I do recall those little buggers forcing my drones off the field time and time again. It truly was a test of my good nature.

But no! Let not my experience take away from your lamenting tune! Let not the many who live in W-Space dissuade you from your black march! Hold your banner high, good pilgrim! Carry the call of your people! Continue to cry into the night!

...

We really do think the tears are quite delicious.

Im all for a nerfbat, just not one that kills my dps. Sure NPC's go for it target drones and ewar the F*** them like you do ships. Fair? That way dps isnt killed but still harshed as per turrets.

I would rather CCP give Drone Boaters some kind of UI Flag letting then know their drones were under duress. Pulling your drones in suddenly and redeploying gives you time to alpha those pesky frigs that are shredding your boys. I don't believe that drones should be free from harm; I have to spend isk on ammo and so should you dronies, but I do believe all the hyperbole on both sides of the argument just break things down further.

Brilliant, I'm on board, so drone bays are loadable from cargo like ammo right?

This could actually work out to add quite a good challenge for players, rather then destroy an entire ship that is scrambling you, just target the module! It means that people will need to pay attention in fights

The real question here is, do missions pay in peroportion to their difficulty now? I for one NEED drones so that ninja salvagers didn't steal my stuff. Unfortunately, this is another CCP screw up (among many many others).

Mission pay is the same.
Difficulty is the same for those that don't use drones, or only use sentries.

Those people actively running level 4s can adapt a lot more than the lower skilled players, which will drive more of them out of drone boats.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

There are good ways to adapt u know. I only use droneboats, even more so post drone changes.

Thing is that now we have to use sentries. Close range though, drones are a effective as ever. And if u think that the changes are forcing u to use sentries claiming that u dont like to be pushed around, try using artys on the majority of Angel missions.
