So, now that the NEO is over and everyone had some time to think about its good and bad parts, I would like to ask CCP about their general attitude towards more tournaments. Do you think we'll have more? If so, what frequency do you expect? Do you guys plan to wait for sponsors like own3d or sponsor them yourselves? Did own3d think the tournament went well for them, financially (that is, did they recoup their investment in exposure-value/ads)?

Hopefully we wont have TOO many tournaments. Otherwise they will just become the usual thing and get boring. So, I think CCP need to keep it to NEO and AT, then some player run tournys (maybe).

My 2 cents

Under the current tournament format, which frankly as a captain is absolutely exhausting! I think 2 per year is a good balance. 1 AT and 1 NEO type tournament.

However if a format could be constructed that kept all the excitement but also made competing less of a logistical and organisational nightmare for the teams then I think more NEO type tournaments, or some type of league would be fantastic.

Make it more like StarCraft. 47 tournaments each day. Plus online leagues and daily showmatches.

I know I was pretty burned out after ATX and it was nice to get back to some TQ stuff. One a year is fine for me personally.

Some sort of ongoing series might breed a new sort of player who's bored of TQ and pretty much plays the game only for tournaments - I know there are a few of those about. Getting practice regular commitment from an entire team of these guys over a long term might be tricky though.

Speaking for TEST we could probably do a tournament every 3-4 months without many problems.

I think the future of tournaments lies in giving players configurable arenas and see what happens. There were two player-run tournaments that I was in last year and they were fun. If there was some ability to setup the ship points and restrictions and have the arena enforce them, then tournaments could become more of a "thing".

But otherwise, I will log in again for the next one. Ta ta.

I could die a happy nerd if Day9 were to cast one of my tourney matches.
