I never assume I'm going to receive a gift so I'm thankful for what we were given.

That said, these fluff items are kind of like a holiday gift exchange where in addition to buying a $20 gift for someone at the office you toss a bunch of paper-clips, staples, and post-it notes into the gift box as well. I'm happy enough with the ship and the implant, we don't need the filler to sort through.

If CCP wants to create new holiday collectible items they could paint a red Rudolf nose on a special edition shuttle or something. Something we can look at that isn't just an icon in our hanger.

Not a criticism, just a suggestion.

Remember the absolutely rabid trading that went on over little bitty pixelated snowglobes, that you only knew were different because you'd click on one and it'd have a different town/dungeon name? Then we got the bells omg they were different colours!...

Talk about absolutely useless fill up the limited slots junk....


OMG WE LOVED IT!!

Bring on the swag and fluff and crappy items and silly named stuff, it's ok some of us have a sense of humour!! (not the ones paying isk for this stuff, they ARE crazy :P)

You young people these days... wanting everything to DO something and be useful... :P

Yeah, I agree with the majority. Thank you CCP for doing a little something extra special this Holiday Season.



However, I will mention that I didn't see a 'Get Out Of Jail Free' card included. You know, a one time use item to remove bounty.

@ people complaining about people complaing:

CCP put adverts everywhere for Xmas surprises and treat boxes. I imagine that's why most people that are voicing their discontent feel that way.

Personally I'm space rich so don't care about free gifts, although I would have liked free remaps. TBH these gifts are a waste of whoever's time was spent making them.

It is only in EVE Online where you can always find someone who is discontent about receiving free items and find ways to ruin Christmas spirit.

The fact that you planned for an unannounced gift shows your failure to plan realistic. at best it was a gamble and a loss for you... Now you have to endure bad attribute setups.

*Although collectors should keep in mind we have no indication these paint jobs will only be available once.

When you start making assumptions on what you will be given as a free gift and planning your actions accordingly you are setting yourself up for disappointment. Ask anyone who "expects" a Christmas bonus when their employer has had a particularly rough year financially.Smile

For those of us who have been around a while, this ranting and raving is nothing new. Same year, same complaints about free stuff. Some of us enjoy the game for what it is. Anything extra is a nice perk, not to be taken too seriously and certainly not seriously enough to whine and complain about. Just glad to be having fun in this little sandbox.

I did think it might be the ore mining frigate, but irreplaceable collectibles and in-jokes are good presents imho.
