How do you destroy a Megathron?

There are a lot of option put forth in order to take on a Megathron Battleship. I'm not certain what ships you have at your disposal, but if you wanted to fight it with an undersized ship, I would go with the Pilgrim. Buffer or active is your choice, though I feel like active would serve you better in the long run. The fight would resemble something like this:

1) Close gap (cloaked if able) and immediately orbit as tightly as you can while keeping up transversal. This is a good scenario to have an afterburner in order to become more difficult to track.

2) Prepare for all the EWAR and DPS! That neut is going to hit you immediately, likely taking most your cap with it. Then the scram, web, guns, and drones, likely in that order. Allow your level head to prevail!

3) Pop a cap booster and start counter neuting. The Megathron is going to be eating its own cap using those hungry and devastating weapons. You have an advantage in the cap war due to your ability to stagger your neuts while he will only have one (and with a long cycle time at that). It is likely he will have to start choosing between the neut and his guns as you strain his capacitor between reload on his own Cap Booster.

4) Turn on the TD with tracking speed. If you are lucky, his webs might miss a few cycles later in the fight, giving you some reprieve from that fantastic DPS.

5) Sick your drones on his. The Ogre IIs will be hitting you hard while scrammed/webbed, but your own drones should make quick work of them(If you have a web, use it on the Ogre IIs to aid with your own drone's tracking).

If all goes well between neut cycles and damage mitigation, you should win this fight, though it will be an uphill battle. I almost feel like having one NOS in your highs would benefit you early on as his heavy neut will hit you hard. Having that NOS will make the initial portion of the fight a little less intense.

Good luck, and Fly Dangerously!

Edit: As I read all of this, I also realized the Curse is just as viable an option. Change out the Tracking Speed Scripts with optimal and keep those neuts on him. Ogre IIs should be easy to avoid, and his Neut will only hit you so often. A faction point would be terrific for this scenario due to his large neut range, but that is neither here nor there.

You don't destroy Megathron, Megathron destroys you!

Best to keep out of web range and ideally neut range. A high end warp disruptor will pin him while you peck away at his large but finite buffer tank from a safe distance.

If you must fight close range load up on cap boosters and tracking disruptors. Shoot the drones and tracking disrupt the mega and it will be defenseless.

Things are only impossible until they are not.

Everyone can point to the kills they got in a frigate against badly fitted PVE ships. However that isn't helpful advice for what you can do to kill a properly set up PVP fit of that same hull.

A normal PVP megathron with heavy neut and web flown by an adaquately skilled pilot isn't going to die to a solo frigate.

... Fun question - Arazu or Lachesis might do it but it'd be about a week of waiting.

Very long point, Sensor Damps to choke his range (bye, bye neuting), drones to take his out then chew him up.

Yes a mega can push out some drones - 125 bandwidth style so up to a single flight of sentries or any mixed composite of smaller ones.
