Should SoE be sending me against Mordu's Legion?

Been doing some missioning with the Sisters of EVE in Simela to grind of standing with them and trying to avoid ticking anyone off if I can, but often that gets ruined by getting Mordu's Legion missions. Now my impression was that factions you're sent against are ones that are negative standing with the one you're working with. Mordu's Legion and Sisters of EVE are at 0.0 with eachother. Is this working as intended?

Yes.
Also, you dont care about your mordus standings, they don't do anything.
theyre also by far the easiest faction to get high standings with since almost all HS missions raise them.

Kind of one those guys that wants to be friendly with everyone except pirates. Just confuses me why factions that don't hate each other would be fighting each other.

IIRC that is the mission where you have to pick up reporter or something. Sisters don't want Mordu's militants dead, it's just Mordu's militants (apparently working as mercs sometimes) want that reporter guy captured/dead.

I'm not sure if you have to shoot them at all in that mission...

Actually, its been a variety of missions, all of them where it very much said to destroy them. I think you're referring to an epic arc mission, I'm talking about just a normal everyday security mission.

Mordu's Legion fought for the Caldari during the Gallente-Caldari war, which is why the Gallente/Minmatar camp is not too fond of them. They operate as mercenaries for hire.

They have standards, but they're also not above killing people for ISK. SOE are biased a bit towards the Gallente, and because the Mordu often run "protection services" for people who don't get along with the Gallente, that's why you get missions against them.

Their base of operation is in nullsec, so unless you plan to live in Pure Blind having bad standings with them isn't much of an issue.

Fair point. I suppose it'd make sense that the Caldari would hire them to attack the Sisters of EVE to make it harder to trace back, even if Mordu's Legion didn't have any personal issue with them, but on the other hand, seems like that'd still cause the Sisters to hate them at least? I don't know, maybe? I'm not really fully aware of even close to all the lore, so I could be way off base.

Considering how Concorde has them at 0.0, they have Concorde at 3.0, and they have two empire factions mutually positive, I'd say not that much.
Heck, according to standings alone the Thukker are more pirates than they are.
Well, the Tukkers kind of are a a nomad horde taking what they want as long as they don't take it from minmatar, while Mordu have semi-legal contract with legally cleaner factions to do their thing.

"We want PvE activities to require active participation and mirror PvP more closely." Stacking penalty for NPC EWAR then? Lock range under 9km from over 100 in a BS is not fun. Nor is two NPC web drones making me crawl 10m/s. PvP SW-900 x5: 75m/s.

Im surprised the caldari don't from time to time ask you to kill amarr.
Stuff happens you know, maybe you have to backstab your allies for important reasons? its not full war, maybe one Amarr leader is proving to be a threat to caldari national security? just have him "quietly removed" if anyone asks blame it on the Minmatar, maybe even blame on the Gallente!

Maybe in this case its just because a few bad eggs exist as far as SoE is concerned... so much for being all about "peace and love"

Yes there is a bit of a difference. But not much.

Privateers often served sovereign nations, but were viewed as pirates by everyone else.

Mordus have no presence in high sec, unlike thunker tribe. They are a null sec entity just like the pirate factions. If you want to run missions for any of the pirate factions you need to leave high sec. If you want to run missions for Mordus you need to leave high sec.They are much more like pirates than like empire factions.

Mordus are not like the pirate factions in many ways, but in other ways they are very similar. For example for anyone familiar with starwars lore. The Mandolorians were mercenaries. they fought for who ever payed them the most. As often against the government as for it. that is what a mercenary army does. Who really decides who the good guys are anyway? A gallente pilot would consider Caldari the bad guys, In the starwars universe the Empire was the controlling government. Anyone loyal to the Empire, which was most of the universe, would consider the Rebel alliance the bad guys. it all depends on your perspective. Or from a RP point of view the perspective you chose to play your character from. Decide what you want your characters opinion to be, and play the game according to that character. You would be surprised at how much more fun a game like EVE can be if you mix just a little bit of RP into your gameplay. Even if you are not an RPer.

Just because Mordus have good standings with the Caldai, they after all are Ex-Caldari Navy. It does not make them the good guys. If you want to keep good standings with all the Empire factions while not worrying about the pirate factions, then I would not worry about Mordus either.

I used to run a lot of missions for SOE. I have had to actually kill empire faction ships in some of those missions. SOE are more friendly with Gallente than with Caldari and some missions will put you against the Caldari Navy, not just Mordus. You do not have to kill them to finish the mission, but will occasionally find yourself at the receiving end of their guns when working for Sisters Of EVE.
