Hey guys,

I have recently returned to EVE and I have been fiddling around with a few cruisers (not all of them yet). So far I am liking the changes.

I have always been an Amarr fan and I have always felt frustrated with the capabilities of Amarr cruisers in PvP but today I fitted this Omen. For all you experienced fitters, this is probably how you would normally fit a standard nano ship;

[Omen, Pvp ]
Damage Control II
Tracking Enhancer II
Tracking Enhancer II
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II

Experimental 10MN Microwarpdrive I
Warp Disruptor II
Large Shield Extender II

Focused Medium Pulse Laser II, Scorch M
Focused Medium Pulse Laser II, Scorch M
Focused Medium Pulse Laser II, Scorch M
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M

Medium Energy Collision Accelerator I
Medium Energy Locus Coordinator I
Medium Polycarbon Engine Housing I

Warrior II x3
Hammerhead II x2
Warrior II x1

I am really surprised by the result. My biggest surprise is that is actually all fitted!

400+ DPS with scorch (up to 560 with overheat and faction multi frequency cristals), decent damage projection up to 30km with scorch, a 14k tank and a max. speed of 2200ms (3100m/s overheated). Cap is a bit low though.

It looks like a decent hit and run / kiting ship. And that for an Amarr design . Cool It is very Minmatarish but with better damage projection.

I took it out to low-sec today and had a few skirmishes in it. Managed to pick off a poorly tanked frig who was part of a small gang. After that my ship died horribly in a gate camp. But it looks promising.. might the Omen actually be good for (solo) PvP... ?

Have you guys got any suggestions for fitting the new Omen or any experiences or tips you want to share on how to fly it?

Anyways I think I am hooked again.. thanks CCP.

Your drone bay has room for 2 more drones

That too. The drone bay has been significantly increased. I think you mean that is now possible to deploy a full flight of 5 drones consisting of lights and mediums instead of the 3 lights of the old Omen.

I really dislike the capacitor on the nano Omen. But yeah, I have a fit that looks very similar to that.

Ed: You should check out the armor Omen. It's slow for an "attack" cruiser, but pretty speedy all things considered. The agility is garbage, but you can't have everything I guess.

I'm an idiot, don't mind me.

Yes we have used that since the change, its pretty awesome, ganks frigates like a boss (outdamages a vaga by a fair bit btw).

Cap is a problem vs bigger targets as you usually cant kill them before the cap runs. All in all its the new best t1 kiting ship out there!

What would you consider a bigger target?

A cruiser and upwards (bcs, bs and such)! Its possible but very hard!

Thanx. I can imagine that it would run out of cap before it would do enough damage to sink a normally tanked cruiser.
I will try it though Smile.

Yeah I fly a fit very similar to this (only with all Heavy Pulses). Great for killing frigs and dessies since you blow them up in only a few shots. However cap is so bad I run out of cap trying to kill a decently tanked caracal as pulsing my MWD to simply keep the guy within point range murdered my cap. I find the Rail/Blaster with Null Thorax to be better for this reason, but if you're heavily invested into Amarr then this isn't bad.

I'm currently thinking it might be worthwhile fitting the rigs with just semi-conductors... will have to test further.

Va a caracal load conflag stay at 5k and heat!

(also the rig gives you just 20 more dps if you switch for a acr you can fit heavy pulses!)

Id fit it more like this:

[Omen, Omen]
Damage Control II
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Tracking Enhancer II
Tracking Enhancer II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II

Large Shield Extender II
Experimental 10MN Microwarpdrive I
Warp Disruptor II

Heavy Pulse Laser II,Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Heavy Pulse Laser II,Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Heavy Pulse Laser II,Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Heavy Pulse Laser II,Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Heavy Pulse Laser II,Imperial Navy Multifrequency M

Medium Ancillary Current Router I
Medium Semiconductor Memory Cell I

Semiconductors don't seem to help much when I tried them on sisi.

Liang wasn't kidding, the armor version is still pretty fast at 1713m/s and gets a stout 24kehp. Significant sacrifice in projection (23km) and about 30 less DPS (before heat) too, but still strong compared to other kiting ships at the edge of long point range. Shoehorning HPL with even 800mm plate starts stacking on fitting mods and gets in to the weeds...

Does this simply not have enough speed to solo as compared to the shield version?

Semis with perfect skills give you almost twice the cap.

And no, as you primary targets are frigates its speed/damage that counts, not tank (if they scram you your dead, if your not scrammed they dont do much damage). With an armour fit you also trade to much range, you will win easeily at 28km vs a stabber/rupture/thorax... but at 20km it becomes a lot closer!
