Logi-ing drones

Many mission ships have a utility high which is filled with something pointless or just left empty. A medium or even a large shield transfer might help keep drones alive? I guess the problem would be lock times, by the time you lock them they're dead. Or you could pre-lock them as soon as you launch them. If anyone has tried this, did it work?

As you pointed out the problem is lock time, and the range of reppers. In practice it only works for repairing them between waves/pockets, etc.

Another issue that I've noticed not oft mentioned is the issue of ECMs and dampeners. Fighting Gurista or Serpentis is an exercise in patience; dampeners dramatically lengthen lock times and will put more distant drones out of lock reach, where as an ECM-chain jam will render locks completely impossible.

I'll take this opportunity to also point out the issue of pulling in drones due to aggro, while your ship is under ECM or dampeners. Re-releasing afterwards raises the possibility of not being able to re-command your drones to attack targets that you are no longer able to lock.

Meh, scratch that idea then :(
Short range of reppers seems to be the nail in the coffin - if the drones are in range, might as well just scoop them.

works ok with sentry drones. Otherwise just scoop and redeploy. (Would be really nice to see damage levels while INSIDE the drone bay BTW)

Used to do this with sentries in wormholes, when I wanted to be lazy and not scoop and redeploy.

Works just fine, really.

that's exactly what I do with a rattlesnake, L shield transfer II especially useful when they become fixated on one sentry in particular

i also rep drones with logi (sometimes). thankfully, shield transfers are not limited by tracking speed

this gave me an idea.

gang of drone repping logistics ships to run missions with.

It's good if you have the spare grid and high slot, for instance most BCs. When you pull drones it's nice to send them back out at full health, so that you can pull them again without them hitting armor.

For what it is worth, I have an Auto Targeting System II on my Rattlesnake. I never activate it, as I only use it for the +3 targets, so I have 10 lockable targets: 5 NPC + 5 drones.

I also use a Large Remote Armor Repair II and a Large Shield Transporter II. Having a Heavy NOS is helpful too. Note that repping armor is more energy efficient, but shield repping happens at the start of the cycle.

the other drawback can be cap usage of that remote repair module

The large modules are i would say totally unsuited to drone tending during a mission, whilst your taking fire
and the small modules could take too long to make effective usage feasable

that just leaves the medium shield/armour modules, and thier cpu/pg needs can be beyond the means of most cruisers even the ones with good drone bays.

regular fits can also be a little sparse on spare Cap too, as tanking the main hull will take precedence
